Those are impressive pictures.

For us the trouble wasn't the snow but the ice. And the fact that the temps rarely got above freezing all week. School was canceled all week long. We're getting off and on flurries all day and overnight into tomorrow. Lows this weekend will be single digits.

We've never lost power, but up in Nashville over 200,000+ were without power at the height of things, and even now many are in the dark.

HH; if that's a Genesis I'm jealous. I like that your neighbors still have christmas lights up and on. It makes snow days more...festive.

The local all time record here (for a single day) was 11" about 5 years ago.

I thought that was a lot...until you two chimed in.

Ice we get plenty of.

All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I guess we will find out today exactly how much more winter we have to suffer through.

Actually, they already said that another heavy snowfall is hitting this area next week ... YAY! More endless shoveling and the debilitating back pain that accompanies it!

I've only experienced blackouts during the summer, and man, they were Hell on Earth without air conditioning. I can only imagine how much worse a blackout would be in the winter, especially for families with babies and senior citizens. If that ever happened here during the winter, or if the grid ever went down for any reason, then we have a few generators and more than enough fuel to last almost a year... Yes, I'm one of those preppers that other people laugh at, but when the sh*t hits the fan those people won't be laughing anymore.

Andy - I thought you drove a Hyundai, when did you trade it in?
