There was a report a couple of days ago that some child in the Nashville area found a needle inside a candy bar. I haven't heard any follow-up about that. It didn't happen in our town.

Even though it is possible for something like that to happen, I have never let myself get too worked up about it. Generally, as long as you see that the candy is a well-known commercial variety, and the wrapper is intact, it is OK. My daughter was the only one of my kids who went door-to-door this year. I haven't even glanced at her candy, but she is 14 yrs old, so I trust her to judge for herself.

Murf just be careful, people are so evil, as you know. They can inject stuff into candy.

That's true, I suppose. But if they do it in such a way that she can't detect it, could I detect it?

I don't know. I know I would scrutinize everything. Making sure there are no punctures of any kind! Maybe, I'm just paranoid. :?

This actualy happened around 1970. There was a guy who really liked his marijuana. He didn't like to smoke it, though. I prefered the method of making "Hash Brownies." That is you grind up a "lid" of pot and bake it into a batch of brownies. Anyway, he made himself a batch of these "hash brownies" for his own Halloween trick or treat, and he made a batch that he would wrap into individual squards and hand out to the ToTers. The only problem is, he forgot which was which. He handed out the "hash brownies," and he ate the regular ones hoping for a great Halloween high. Then he started thinking when a couple of the older kids, eyse totaly blood shot, came back for more of "those crazy, cool brownies" he gave them.

Of course, the parents of some of the little ones didn't take too kindly to it. He was arrested for possession of an Illegal Substance, but back then it was only a misdeamenor.

Well, that's actually kind of a funny story. I mean, it was wrong and all, but I don't suppose anyone was done any lasting harm from it.

I don't understand why some people like to put some kind of drugs or liquids in candies or brownies... Well, I've eaten some brownies with marijuana inside it! :?

Some people are just sick & like to ruin other people's fun.

It's a disgrace that there are people out there that do this sort of thing!

Yeah, and people say tainted Halloween candy only happened once with a guy and his son.

The thing is, the guy who made the "hash brownies" did not intend for them to go out. That was HIS Hallwoeen 'trick ro treat.' His mistake was that he made regular brownies for the ToTers and 'hasg brownies' for himself and then got them confused. He would have done better to hand out Snickers bars to the ToTers, and eat the 'hash brownies' himself. It was wrong, but he really didn't know he was giving out the wrong treats.

My younger sister did a simular thing. My parents were out, and she and her friends were having a sleep-over. Again this was back in the 70s, when Marijuana was little more then a misdemeanor, and considered not to be very serious. She wipped up a batch of 'hash brownies for her and her friends, mainly because she didn't want mom and dad to smell that very distince marijuana smoke smell. This was when we were teenagers by the way, so it was late 70s. Anyway, when yo do pot, you get very forgetful, so she forgot about them after she and her friends had eaten some of them and left the plate out on the kitchen table.

As you probably already guessed, my dad and mom came home. They caught sight of that plate ful of very delicious looking brownies and said "Oh boy! Brownies. Think I'll try one out," and sure enough, our PARENTS were as high as kites in a matter of a little less then an hour. Again, it was totaly unintended, but we both laugh about it when we think about it. My father was in his mid 70s, my mom her mid 60s, so you really got a unique perspective of the marijuana high. Two elderly grandparents walking around stoned.
