I also like haunted houses in front of a moon with a witch flying over it.

Well, call me an old 'fuddy duddy,' but again, when I hear or read the word "Halloween," the very first image that pops into my head is the jack o'lantern. And I mean the traditional jack o'lantern with the trangle eyes, traigle nose and a smiling mouth with a few teeth.
IMHO, it wouldn't be Halloween without a jack o'lantern. I have watched horror movies through out the year. During every month of the year, you will see a ghost on my tv screen. You will often encounter vampiers, wearwolvs, witches, demons, and just about everything else, BUT, when it's October and the Hallwoeen season, there MUST BE a jack o'lantern.

I agree. You can see any other creature in a horror movie and not associate it with Halloween, but the moment you see Jack, you think October 31st.

I was thinking 'probably Jack-O-Lantern' and then I read Mike's comment and realized not probably but definitely a Jack-O-Lantern. He's right, they are the one Halloween related icon that you don't see at any other time of year; and it doesn't matter how you decorate your house, they are always appropriate.

They're also my favourite item to work on when it comes to decorating for Halloween. I love spending time carving a Jack O'Lantern!

That is exactly what I love most about Halloween decorating. Carving a jack o'lantern, the smell of a freshly cut pumpkin, and the excitement that builds from that smell.
And yes, I do have some fake ones with a light bulb inside of them which sit on top of my speakers, but I'll allways have the 'real McCoy' through out the month of October.

Definitely the Jack-o-lantern. Pumpkins are seasonal whereas the rest of the stuff can pretty much be seen anytime of the year.
