The faster they grow, the sooner you can put them to work washing dishes, pulling weeds in the garden, cleaning out the chimney, stitching bootleg jeans........

You got the right idea but the wrong set of kids...mine would be made examples of the first day...they wouldn't last a whole day!!

I don't know. I still think all that video game playing is the perfect training for little fingers that will soon be hard at work on complex imitation Levi stitching....

Mine would be the poster children for that ha ha ha...they are sweet but they did not have a dad like mine...Sat and Sun mornings were spent weeding and doing chores and if they weren't done correctly you had to start over or you get whack on the butt with a book.

He never really hurt us or hit hard but the thought of it to an 8 year old was scary. He made us work in the neighborhood cleaning, shovelling snow, cutting grass, picking weeds for extra cash since we were around 9 or 10...then paper routes, then 15, get a job.

My kids...they get mad when I put the wrong DVD in...

It is funny I got a job baby sitting & made $40 a week, my brother tried mowing lawns & made $40 a day, it didn't take me long to figure out I should be mowing lawns, my dad got so upset because a girl was doing a guys job. Ha ha ha!! He didn't seem to surprised when I took Automotive tho, several years later. Ha ha ha!!

My dad softened up big time after I graduated high school but before that he was a hot head disciplinarian and wanted us kids to understand that there was no frebies or easy way to the prize. Work or die basically...WWII Vet and had no dad so he had to fend for himself...wanted a better life for his kids...great sense of humor though and a fun guy...everyone loved to talk to him.
