Not sure I agree with that decision. When you murder a man in cold blood in front of his children, I can't see you deserving anything short of life in prison.

Re: Malcolm X assassin is freed on parole
He's ~70 years old. They pretty much got "life" from the man. Why not let him see what sort of positive impact he can have with what he has left?
I am curious though.... does the fact that this was a high profile murder influence judgment/personal opinion? What if it wasn't Malcolm X? What if this guy had murdered some regular fellow on the street? What then? Would you have a little more mercy for him? I am curious what people think.
IMO, justice has been served.... by the courts where it belongs. It's not my place to pass judgment on this fellow. I'm not the proper authority.

Re: Malcolm X assassin is freed on parole
Malcom X wasnt a saint and he was no Martin Luther King, I'd say he was more like Louis Farrakhan....so I cant see that influencing anyone......The guy shot him in public, in front of his kids, and many witnesses....they should have executed him....
life IMO means life, die in jail....life in prison

Well, I do believe that people DO change. It was awful what he did and he was young when he did it but it doesn't excuse him in any way. I think that he will truly be free and forgiven when he passes away, I believe he will be confronted by his victim, Malcolm X when he dies. We all meet in some way or another, either now or in another life.

Re: Malcolm X assassin is freed on parole
He never got to see his babies grow up. They had to grow up without a dad. His killer didn't "pretty much" take Malcolm's life; he took all of it. He should forfeit all of his own. The high-profile nature of the victim should play no part in any of it.
Maybe the arc of history bends towards justice, in this life or one beyond it, but because we can't be sure we have to strive for justice in the here and now. That's how I feel about it, anyway.

That killer already owed Malcolm X's family an apology. They forgave him.
