I'm not looking forward to summer either, it's so hot and humid and my electric bill hits the $300 - $400 area

OMG mine too, even though we keep it on 78, it gets sooo hot at night when you try to sleep, we have to turn it to 70, our bills are outrageous, everything in the house is electric! I hang my clothes out to dry though and I turn off all the breakers that we don't need during the day and at night too to see if that will save us anything, it's a little experiment we are trying, we will find out on our next bill how much we saved by doing that. It's worth a try, gotta save money somehow.

That is the ONLY thing we have on is the PC's and one TV on the day shut off all the other breakers in the box, it's fortunate that the box is easy accessible so it's easy to turn back on right away when we do need to use the stove or whatever. I just hope it's worth it to do all that because I will keep doing it. I started at first unplugging stuff and it DID save a good amount on the electric bill so I kept it up until well we thought we may as well turn off total power from the breakers when we don't use them, what's the point of having the water heater run all day? W only use it to take showers and run the dishwasher, so we do all of that in the morning and then shut it all down. It only takes the water heater 30 min. to heat up and then we take quick showers. I'm actually looking forward to getting my next bill to see how much we saved, if anything. I would LOVE to get solar panels so we don't have to depend on the power company to provide electricity to us. What's stupid is that we live near Hoover Dam and the power gets sold to Cali then it gets sold back to us instead of directly to us from Hoover Dam so it makes our bill more expensive.

I loathe the heat myself, but I love August cause usually towards the end you start to see a few Halloween things in the stores, and the nights get a bit cooler (well here anyways).

We were having a discussion at work today about fave holidays and months, I told my co workers that Fall was my absolute favorite season, October is my fave month and Halloween was my fave holiday. They looked at me like I was insane! They are all into summer big time, heat and all. Ugh...not for me. I'll always be a Fall person!

I know, I always say I hate the heat and people say well why do you live hear then? The question to that answer is I DON'T KNOW!!! lol We WILL be moving somewhere cooler in 2011 before the oldest kid gets into JR. High school. I love October too, there's a certain "feeling" in the air that feels so good and the smell of pumpkin makes me all warm and fuzzy inside.

I've got 3 kids myself. 18 yr old dd who thinks she knows everything, a 13 year old son and an 11 yr old dd. I always thought I couldn't wait for the "next" stage. But it seems they are getting older too quickly. This was our first year without that Santa excitement. They tried for me, but it was gone. So sad. We still have fun though. Big kid fun. Quad runners, hiking, camping.

I hate heat too, but here in TN, we don't get REALLY hot until August, and then by Sept. it starts cooling off again. About 85 F is an average, but we do have high humidity here. I hate that.

I start in summer planning and repairing my Halloween decorations. After last year, I know I have a few boo boos to fix.

I kept the heater off last night and it got down to a chilly 65 degrees in the house, I'm doing laundry so I'm counting on the dryer to heat it up a little bit in here. I like the house at 70 not cold and not hot.

You should come to WI and see how it is without the Heater on....or the summer without AC.

No one believes it but it gets really hot and humid here in the summer...and winter is brutal but other than that it is paradise :)

Wisconsin would be awesome, it doesn't get 120 degrees in the summer there does it?
