kind of like how birds swoop down to cross the street, why do they do that??? They can fly, why do they fly so low to cross the road???

My guess is steady air currents over flat surfaces?

Either that or there are lots of tasty squirrel and bunny bits left on roads...

they do it as your driving through too, you drive and SWOOSH, a bird shoots from up on the power line, down across the street, then back up...it's weird, it's like they are playing chicken with your car

finally, something to post here.......

Thanks to someone on another forum, my wife and I were able to attend the Halloween expo at the convention center here in Houston today.

We had a good time, saw a lot of stuff..........I took pics but unfortunately I had to use my phone camera because a lot of places were "no photos allowed" so they are blurry, but I can post what I took if anyone is interested.

They didnt have much in the "WOW" area, mostly the same ol' stuff you see at the local stores and seasonal stores, but, I did get to see what the unit cost vs. retail cost is and it's amazing the mark up on these things.....

I would LOVE to see your pics, Spooky, but even more I'd love some specifics on the sort of mark-ups you saw!! What does it actually cost to make a latex severed arm???

I'll do a seperate thread for the pics, I dont have many, just 7.

I saw a severed head that retailed at $24 whole sale for $8, I saw those 12" black ravens with light up red eyes that every one sells for $14 wholesales for $4.50. the $70 floating, animated ghosts that Spirit sells wholesales for $30, The animated Jason I bought for $199 and spirit (and most others) sells for $250 cost $150 wholesale. And I saw a latex facial appliance that was very impressively made and looked great retails for $50 ish dollars wholesale for $25.

So that means that all those $24 severed heads I've bought at after Halloween sales over the years for $12, I was still paying four bucks more than wholesale. How does one go about buying them wholesale? Do I have to set up some sort of shell-company? Anybody want to be my business partner??

"SpookyMac Terrorville, Inc." Whataya think? First franchise branches in Maryland and Texas?

that was kind of my wifes thoughts too;
1. we pay way too much for our yard haunt
2. we could start up a buisness and buy this stuff at whole sale then sell it on the net at retail or slightly less
3. buy the minimum ct required at cost then ebay the rest retail...

Where do the original sculpts for the props come from? Are there individual artists out there making new heads, or is it all done in China where the final products are mass produced?
