Cemetery Tombstones and Headstones

Post by Haunt Master » Tue Sep 30, 2008 7:09 pm

I had to add to my cemetery for the front porch, but instead of with more flat tombstones and headstones. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good material to crave some headstones out of something? Like the angels and figures in a real life cemetery? Also, maybe make a cemetery arch, you know? I've attached a photocopy of the cemetery arch just for an example. ;)

Hey, styrofoam is great to make upright gravestones. You can carve and conect parts together to create a stone looking arch. A little spary paint, and some wooden stakes (for support and to mount into the ground) and you can have the perfect arch... oh and styrofoam works well is any weather but after a few years you may need to replace it with new styrofoam. :D

That sounds good idea. Thanks for the tip! :D

Have you ever made one of these headstones for yourself before? Or, did you buy some from the local stores?

I make at least 2 new gravestones each year with the styrofoam.I me and my dad made an arch a LONG time ago and it still gets used. I do buy to more designed ones too. But they aren't as fun.. LOL also you may want to put a protective seal on the "stones" just to make it last longer and be stonger.

OK, please let me know how the foam works out (assuming that's what you'll try using, blackrose). I have some work to do this year myself with some foam core. I'm not sure if foam core is any cheaper... :?

Glad I came across this post(even though it is from almost a year ago ) I live in Ohio and we have tons of this insulation around at the home stores, but I didn't know you could use the white board. I have seen the pink board used, but it's sooo expensive here( thanks to all the snow we get) I didn't want to waste the $'s. The white is much less expensive, so I think I'll try it.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

What part of Ohio? Wendythewitch and I are both from Youngstown, though I moved west a long time ago.

I'm saying small now but I used to do a large cemetery scene.
No matter how much decorating I do, we only get 20-30 ToTers here, so I scaled back a bit.
