Big Lots is great. I bought a bag of bones for $20 that I found elsewhere for $35. They do have great stuff, but it is already picked thru. Christmas is slowly taking it over isle by isle.
Our Wal-Mart doesn't have much. It is the same old, same old. I am glad we have 2 Spirit stores and one Halloween Express near by. ( within a 35 mile distance )

Target was sad. I am hoping they were just delaying putting out their decor. I usually find some pretty cool things there. I make at least one " cool " purchase there each year. I was unable to find anything I couldn't live without. They only had Christmas cards out. But, I know it will explode with Christmas very soon.

That's just cause you haven't met me in person. If you did, it would be more of a grimace than a smile. Kind of like when someone walking in front of you burps, and then two seconds later you walk through it. That's what meeting me is like.

Know what I would love? A Halloween store that stayed open all year long. Maybe I'll open a store like that. There's a Christmas store at the local mall that stays open all year long.

there is one in So. Cal called Halloween Club, it's huge and open year round. They used to have really good stuff, props you couldnt find any where else and a huge selection of foggers and lighting and costumes out the ying-yang. I havent been there in years tho so I dont know what they have now days, I'd like to go again but I live in Texas now.

I stop there every time I drive through La La Land. And they always have something new. I usually buy my stuff there in the summer when prices are lower.

On another topic isn't Ashville the location of Biltmore? I haven't been there but from what I've seen and read it would make an unforgettable haunted house.[/quote]

Yep! I had my own haunted experience there....well I dunno, maybe. I was at the ticket house meeting some friends, had my 3 kids with me. We all went to the bathroom and we were the only ones in there. My youngest was walking along the sinks when one suddenly came on for about 3 seconds. These are those automatic spigots. I didn't think much of it until we were standing up against the wall and it happened again. Paranormal Investigator came out and I walked over as it stopped. I started checking the spigot to see if it was loose, check to be sure the sensor wasn't messed up by running my hand in front of it. It all seemed fine. When I moved back over to the wall it happened again. My middle daughter started giggling and saying "The ghost is playing tricks on you momma". So I checked everything AGAIN. After that it didn't happen anymore. Still could have been a malfunction of the sensor, I didn't have tools (nor wanted to get in trouble for taking it apart) to really thoroughly check it.

I have to mention that the Estate does NOT like anyone discussing the activity there. I have met lots of employees who have told me their experiences but getting access to do a full blown investigation isn't going to happen anytime soon. They are afraid it will tarnish the reputation of the Estate. But one day....I swear I will investigate the place.

i'll help ya lol
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I walked into Belk today and they had a HUGE Christmas display. In my shock I looked around and found the Halloween section tucked away in a tiny section of the store. It was very upsetting to see this, I couldn't believe it. On November 1 I will be very happy to see Christmas stuff but until then it is kind of a "Halloween buzz kill" if you will.

Gah. Well Dollar General, and a K-mart store already had Christmas stuff out already as well.
And like the rest of you guys, I'm usually not in the mood for Christmas until November 1st. I love Christmas though, and it's gotta be a close second to Halloween.
I did see a singing Christmas kitty I'm tempted to get though...but blame it on the fact that I love plush kitties and absolutely love Holiday ones of any holiday.
Still. I would like to see more Halloween stuff out. When it first came out at the Dollar tree I got a couple of really nice items. Then they started putting out Christmas stuff, then they replaced some of the Halloween stuff with Back to school things for a while, but now they've got more Halloween stuff in.
But the stuff I found that day I can't seem to find now. So I'm glad I got it. One was a little Kitty thing, it looks like a small bucket that you could probably stick a candle in, the other was a skull snow globe.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

A little off topic, but I absolutely hate that "back to school" phase that all the stores go through. It seems to just drag so much, I guess because its the period right before Halloween stuff comes out, and by that point I am SO anxious.

I love the "back to school" phase, because retailers always get in loads of big plastic storage tubs (for kids off to college, maybe??), and no-one ever buys them, so at the end of September they're all on sale.... Just in time for an advance purchase in preparation for all the Halloween stuff I'll need to store in November! Walmart had 30 gal tubs last week for $4.

I complain about this EVERY YEAR. Halloween comes into the stores at a reasonable time, but it comes at the same time as Thanksgiving, and before September is even over, Christmas is out. It's disgusting. My husband's only known me a year and a half, and already he knows the rant.
'Tis yet again the spooky season
so we lose all sense of reason.
When witches, ghosts, and ghouls are near,
We are ruled by fright and fear!
