Inflatables - Good decoration or Bad?
Ok so every year I debate on getting one of those inflatable pumpkins or ghosts...etc. But I always think that they might look a little tacky because I dont really have any place in particular to put it other than just right smack in the middle of the yard.
I think any decoration is good decoration since some people dont do anything at all.....but for some reason I always think of them as a tad tacky...anyone else???

Well I have been on the fence with this one for the past few years too. For me they can be tacky in some cases but it depends on the rest of the decor of the outside. Like you said though I would never call anyones house down especially if they made an effort to deck it out for any holiday but my main issue for not getting a blow up decoration is that I am scared it would last one year and get a hole in it and I would of wasted teh money. Just a bit paranoid I guess. They do have some really neat ones out there though some cute, general Halloween stuff, scary and just strange. I find they have a much larger selection of ones to buy now a days compare to 2 or 3 years ago.
1, 2, Freddy's Coming For You 3, 4, Better Lock Your Door 5, 6, Grab A Crucifix 7, 8, Better Stay Up Late 9, 10, Never Sleep Again
Here's my feelings.. because I want to decorate with some kewl, scary stuff (fog, thunder/lightning, grave stones, etc), I don't think it would fit in. I think it really depends on the type of decorations your doing. If your doing a lot of the orange/black cutesy things, nothing very scary, then it's probably fine.
As for the displays..I think it depends on what one your getting. The ones I've seen are like 6 feet in size, and have a big blower on the back. If you puncture them, they still work. They aren't a sealed system completely. But, you would probably need to tape up holes or what not to get maximum air/rise capability. Still, they are a little too big for my tastes. I don't mind the props that are 5 too 6feet tall if they look like ghouls, dead people, etc.. those are kewl.

Yes I completely agree with the more spooky and creepy feeling. Inflatables have a more cutesy look too them. There is a house around me that has about 10+ in their yard this year. I am stopping by on the way home to shoot a picture for you all. They dont blow them up during the day time because of the light...so hopefully the picture will still take at night.

I finally caved and bought an inflatable this year!! It is a Dracula that rises up out of a coffin and then goes back in, then rises up...you get the idea. Actually my daughter really wanted him. I was just thinking today that he doesn't really go with the rest of the decor....but what the hell, he's a Halloween decoration!!

Well, that's exactly right. To each his own. I like scary and realistic, but there are plenty out there who love the cute look. The blow-up things are fun to see (I like the ones with bats); and certainly having little ones in your household changes your approach. My son is a teenager now, so that's a non-issue for us. (He's doing Tarot Card readings at our party this year)
Yeah they do catch your eye....mine is so big I have to pick non windy days to do it......mostly from 7-10 I inflate......may run it longer the closer we get.http://community.webtv.net/boswell7/doc0

I have 2 inflatables, and I think if you want to use them they can be cool, but you can't over do it. Like, I have a neighbor and know of another person, and they have about 20 of them in their yard, and too many look junky. They are a little bit cheesy, but the carousel one I got, I think is really neat. They are making cooler and cooler inflatables. I like the snowglobes with the confetti/snow flying around inside them.

Getting as many children into Halloween as possible is always a good thing. I love all the scarier decoraions myself as the inside and out of my "haunted house" plainly show. I have no blow-ups at all and have no intention of getting any, but any decorations of any kind only make the season more enjoyable for everyone!

Re: Inflatables - Good decoration or Bad?
I always thought inflatables were stupid. They looked too fake and cute for me. I am OBSESSED with real looking scary stuff. When I see a yard display or when I am looking at decorations on online stores one little thing that is not realistic and I will hate it. So I never likes inflatables. But last night I was looking at decorations on an online store and I found some inflatables that looked very realistic. I would never guess they were inflatables if they never said they were. I love these inflatables. I wish I could get them.
This is one of the cheesy fake looking ones that I do not like.

This one looks good too. Does not look as real as the corpse but still good!

Re: Inflatables - Good decoration or Bad?
i wish i could have inflatables in my yard
some of our neighbors down the street don't like us,, egged our house several times this year and keyed/ broke into our car,,, and because of our history i would probably have them for less then 24 hours before they got slashed

Geez, that's horrible. That's no way to live. I know a lot of neighbors don't like each other but that's way over the top.Hallow's Queen wrote:i wish i could have inflatables in my yard

As far as inflatables go, not my thing. I just think they're too big and take attention away from any other decorations you might have. If anything I think some of the Xmas snowglobe inflatables are kinda cool, but I just haven't see any Halloween ones that I would ever get.
