I bought a life size Michael Myers that plays the Halloween theme music, and moves his eyes. He is going to scare some little kids.

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Only thing I've bought so far is my $2 mini clown head from Target. I make it a rule not to do my big spending until the after Halloween sales.

I've named him "George Clowney".

One year when I was living in a house with three 'mates we made a traditional scarecrow/dummy that we sat in a chair on the front porch for Halloween.

I don't remember who started it but he started showing up in beds, inside dark closets, under furniture, etc. I have no idea who finally took him apart, but it went on for quite a while.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Went to Halloween USA today looked around they still half to unpack some things yet, But I bought me some scene setters a graveyard scene that is like thin silky wallpaper it looks really cool its 40ft long in a roll that costs $17.00 not to bad, And plus I went to Wal-mart and bought 2, 25ft extension cords and an outdoor plug in set with a surge protector so I can hook all of my electrical Halloween decor with out making the house lights go boom. lol :) Better be safe then sorry as I always say. Next on my list 1000 wat foger, 400 wat. foger, fog liquid, some tombstones that take 2 AA batteries tall that have glowing eyes, That is what I am planning on getting next.
HALLOWEEN 2011 THE COUNTDOWN BEGINS!!!!

Just got back from Spirit. Two things I've noticed:

1.) They're heavy into the animatronics this year. Not that that's a bad thing, but they do have higher price tags. Clearly, people are spending money on Halloween, or at least Spirit's Research & Development department thinks they are.

2.) The Halloween Industry is FINALLY becoming responsive to our demands! For years, I've griped and moaned about how severed arms always seemed to be a lefty from the same mold, but this year, they've got both right and left hands and arms. And it's kind of a claw-shaped grip, instead of the same dead hand mold they've been using. It's good because when it comes to build-your-own dummies and monsters, hands can be the hardest part to complete. No-one wants their homemade zombie to have two left hands. :?

I saw the life-sized Michael Myers (but from the Rob Zombie movie...boooo....), and I really hope there are some of those zombie babies left on November 1st! It did seem like Spirit was also trying to provide things that you couldn't easily find in the Halloween sections of Walmart or Card & Party shops.

Cheers!

Ian

i havent gotten much yet this year, i did go to the dollar tree store and they always have some really cool stuff. goblets and the like. i try to buy 4 goblets every year so all the women at the party get to have one to drink from. the men usually just drink beer. dollar tree had some cool signs, like "this way to the graveyard" and "butcher shop" i got two. i dont know where i'll put them tho, lol....we decorate all the public rooms in our house too! i just cant resist. can you believe i never even heard of spookytown til yesterday when i found this site? i've been over to thier site and found some really good pieces i'd like to have. im thinking i could put a few around the main appetizer table. my daughter told me that a little store she saw had two types of halloween houses...im gonna go check them out...she said they were only $5 so i'll get each. it'll be a start for my scene. i plan on working on a collection now that i found spookytown.

Have you guys noticed Fright Catalog seems to be just limping by this year. They have a lot of 1 cent auctions on ebay, and a lot of their props are either out of stock or discontinued.

About the ebay auctions, you could buy a set of black Halloween string lights for like a dollar but where they get you is $10 shipping charge. Seems to me like more and more people are doing the do it yourself thing when it comes to yard haunting, and that may not be a bad thing. A lot of the time the do it yourself stuff is of much higher quality and genrally more realistic and creative.
Jack-o-lanterns are on the cutting edge.
