My girlfriend and I will watch it when DVD comes straight to our mailbox from Netflix. :D

People say that Jason Voorhees is meaner and faster than the classic movies! Is that true?

Yes, I would agree with that description. Jason is brutal in this film—almost bordering on torture porn. One particular kill scene near the beginning of the film comes to mind. I'm not a fan of blood and guts, but I do realize their place in horror flicks. I'm more a fan of the legend and lore of these films, the monsters and slashers, not the gory by-products of their evil actions. And so, I am NOT a fan of torture porn! I think it's horrible what some Hollywood-types are doing to our wonderful and mysterious horror movie genre!!! :x

Well, I'm a fan of blood, guts and s##t like that... not really a fan of torture porn, but I do love some horror/cult porn flicks. ;)

I picked up the term torture-porn and added it to my very limited horror-vocab at the Fangoria fair that I attended earlier this year. I heard many indie horror directors use it in reference to films like the Saw series and its many ripoffs. They said that this style of horror and the ever-popular remake were the current trends in Hollywood which they obviously detest. This kind of rhetoric was coming from the likes of Michael Dougherty, director of Trick R Treat, and many other horror insiders who would like to see a return to some of horror's origins, which is one reason why Michael made Trick R Treat as an anthology -- something horror fans love and Hollywood hates!!! :twisted:

They all seemed really psyched to see former (good) horror directors like Sam Raimi, who has become immensely successful with his Spiderman franchise, re-entering the genre -- in Sam's case with his recent horror-comedy Drag Me to Hell, which I loved!!! :twisted:

Like I said, it wasn't a bad movie. For those who aren't familiar with the Jason Vorhees movies, it's a pretty good updated intorduction. My problem is that I was expecting a prequil and instead I got a remake. I was disappointed.

I think part of the reason why remakes are almost never as good as the oroginals is because after seeing the original for the first time, there's no way that the same story can have as much of an inpact as it did the first time.

that was about my reaction, too... it didn't seem nearly as original as rob zombie's halloween remake, which was set in his zombie's white-trash universe, not john carpenter's surreal universe of "pure evil" :twisted:

Oh, by the way, the Director Marcus Nispel is going to do the remake of Friday The 13th Part 2! :shock:

I read about it somewhere on the internet. I will find out more info when I get chance. ;)

So, what do you think about "Friday The 13th 2" remake?

that doesn't make much sense to me... this remake was basically a compilational retelling of parts 1-3, rolled into one slasher flick... wasn't it? i mean, the intro is part 1; jason pre-hockey mask was part 2; and everything after the hockey mask was part 3... right? so, what will the second movie be about? just another reimagining of the same thing they're already doing in the original series: jason comes back to life and kills a bunch of kids? why do they need to reboot the series to do that? couldn't they have just continued with the original series? :roll:

It was alright, I wouldn't buy it on dvd or anything. The girl in the tunnel didn't make sense to me either. Jason is supposed to kill, kill, kill, not hold people hostage! LOL

Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
