I picked "other", though for the population as a whole, Jack o' lantern would probably be it. The Spirit of Halloween for me, however, often varies--the skeleton, Ray Bradbury, Mikey Myers, the witch, etc., etc., on and on...
TRADITION calls for a jack o'lantern every Halloween. A CARVED jack o'lantern so it can be lit up with a candle. The grim reaper and skeletons and the like are all important too, but the jack o'lantern is central to the entire Halloween celebration. It's like a Christmas tree at Christmas time.
According to Linus Van Pelt, the
Great Pumpkin is Haloween's answer to Santa Claus. If you don't believe in the Great Pumpkin, then you'll just have to settle for a good Trick or Treat, a Halloween party and a pumpkin to carve.
Sam...? did i miss something or this a brand new movie
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
