Halloween Tree

Post by litemareb4xmas » Wed Mar 11, 2009 11:55 am

I've been putting up a small cheesy one I got at k-mart a few years back, but this year I found a 5' black tree at wal-mart on the clearance rack. Gonna switch out all the clear bulbs for orange or purple, can't wait!

I prefer to leave tree trimming for Christmas, and stick with carving pumpkins and other Halloween decorations for Halloween. Putting up a tree if an inconvenience, and while I do love it at Christmas time and actualy make a partyof it for the little ones, I would not want to do it more then once a year.

I have a 6 foot Halloween tree that I made out of a Christmas tree. Purchased a tree at a yard sale for $10 and spray painted every single branch black (this was a very time consuming project but well worth it). I spent another $10 on paint. Made a ton of ornaments and with some black and purple lights it's the coolest thing I've seen. My guests love it and go on and on about how fun it is. It makes since to me to have a Halloween tree, because a Christmas tree has nothing to do with Christmas so why not have a Halloween one.

I put up a Halloween tree. It is so beautiful!!! I have 9' ceilings and use a 8 1/2' tree. I use orange lights, Autumn leaves, pumpkins of various sizes and designs and a few spiders. I take handfulls of straw and put it in the empty spots like. For the top, I have this wheat, straw thing. It reminds me of a corn or hay bundle. I put it up in September and it stays up until December.
I have a hard time posting my pix, but I will try to post one.

To heach his or her own. For me, tradition is the main thing. Tree trimming IMHO is for Christmas. Halloween is pumpkins, ghosts, skelitons and Trick or Treat. Besides, putting up a tree is a major hassel. I don't mind it once a year, at Christmas time, but I certainly don't want to put one up twice a year. I say that because as a strict traditionalist, I use a real tree at Christmas time, not an artificial one. If I decided to go with a Halloween tree, then I would have to go through hunting down a tree twice.

No thanks.

I have a small Halloween tree that I put up every year. It's only about a foot tall, but I love it. My husband would never let me get away with a huge, Christmas-tree-sized tree for Halloween. lol!
I've met The Great Pumpkin.

If you use your imagination, trees durng the Fall can be very spooky. There are a couple on my property. Combined with my 100 year old house, and the dead look of mid Fall, like in late October, the trees look like huge hands reaching out of the ground, groping for some unsuspecting passer-by. There are "Halloween Trees" that look something like that which people put up, and they might "trim" them up with a ghost or something, but I've also seen regular artificial Christmas trees put up with pumpkin lights and skulls. Well all I can say is to each his or her own.

One of my neighbors puts up his artificial Christmas tree as a Halloween tree in mid October. Then on the day after Halloween, he trims it up with "Indian Corn" and turkeies. On the day after Thanksgiving, he takes down the Thanksgiving themed decorations and trims it up for Christmas.

To each ins or her own, but I like tree trimming at Christmas time only.

I bet if you give him a few bucks, you can get Gary Coleman to stand on your front porch with a star on his head.......

I agree, Coleman's been in a few questionable roles lately.
