Re: Popular Halloween movies?
I'm a little more 'old school' when it comes to popular Halloween type movies,or movies that are part of "Halloween" tradition. Here's my list.
"Frainekstein" the original 1930s version
"Dracula" Bela Lugosi, who else???
"The Wolf Man" starring Lon Chaney Jr.
"Franidnstein Meets the Wolf Man"
"The Haunting" The original
"Dark Shadows" Any episode will fill the bill
"The Changeling"
"It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown"
"Dracula" Dan Curtis version
And there are plenty of others, but tradtional classic horror is pretty much my main-stay on Halloween.

Me personelly, like Christopher Lee's Dracula movies. But they didn't show that much on television.

Like I said, I still see "Bela Lugosi" as THE archytipical Count Dracula, but a very close 2nd is the Dan Curtis version of the "Dracula" story. I also like Christopher Lee as the Count, though.

You know that Christopher Lee just turned 87 last month? I wasn't sure that he was celebrating his 87th Birthday in London, but what I read somewhere online news.

You know who else has been around seemingly for ever? The guy who played Grandpa on the tv show "The Munsters." I don't remember his name, but he was interviewed on a popular local radio show a few years ago, and he was in his 90s.

Re: Popular Halloween movies?
During the month of October, I enjoy watching the following movies/programs:
Dracula (Bela Lugosi)
Frankenstein (Boris Karloff)
The Wolfman (Lon Chaney)
House on Haunted Hill (Vincent Price)
The Last Man on Earth (Vincent Price)
Fright Night
The Blair Witch Project
Salem's Lot (Original & Remake)
Night of the Living Dead (George Romero)
Halloween (John Carpenter)
Halloween (Rob Zombie)
Halloween III
Tales from the Darkside
It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!
The Haunted History of Halloween (History Ch)
Vampire Secrets (History Ch)
Hauntings (History Ch)
And any other great movies or programs that I get a chance to see during the season! Of course, I will soon be adding Trick R Treat to my list, too -- finally!!!
You can add to that several DVDs that I recently purchased and am anxiously awaiting:
Roseanne's Halloween Edition (Best Halloween episodes from the series on one DVD)
Fat Albert's Halloween Special
Love at First Bite
Transylvania 6-5000
Monster Squad
American Scary (documentary)
It's weird -- the older I get with this holiday, the more I love it and want to return to the simple, child-like Halloween of my youth. I guess that's why I'm watching less and less actual horror movies and more TV programs/cartoons, etc... Oh well, it's all fun times!!!

I seem to love the new classics.
An American Warewolf in London (not Paris)
The Amitiville Horror (new and old)
Psyco
Halloween
Fright Night
Salem's Lot
Friday the 13th
The Strangers
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Most old Stephen King stuff.
I also love 13 Ghosts and House on Haunted Hill. Some think they are silly
My kids and I watch Hocus Pocus over and over and also the Disney Halloween Town shows. They are good.
And can't forget Tim Burton's
The Nightmare Before Christmas.
This is my all time fave. My ringtone is "This is Halloween".

Re: Popular Halloween movies?
I enjoy the Friday the 13th franchise -- especially parts 1-4, 6, Freddy vs. Jason, and the new remake. However, I don't care to watch these particular scary flicks in conjunction with my Halloween Horrorthon, because: 1) Halloween belongs to Michael, not Jason; and 2) the Friday flicks seem more like summertime flicks, not October (eve of winter)... Know what I mean?

Re: Popular Halloween movies?
I always enjoy watching all the Halloween flicks, and 25 Years of Terror, which is the greatest franchise documentary I've ever seen. Now that this board helped me discover The Haunted History of Halloween, I'm sure that will be on my must-watch list. Of course, The Great Pumpkin, and any Scooby Doo flicks I can find around. Hellraiser is a good one, as well as Pet Sematary. 'Salem's Lot, if I'm the mood for some serious cheese, and, of course, by October 27, Trick 'r Treat. Oh, and The Halloween Tree, which I can only find on youtube. Many others slipping my mine right now...

Re: Popular Halloween movies?
Thanks for mentioning The Halloween Tree on YouTube. I'd been unable to find anything other than VHS copies out there in cyberspace, and never thought to look on YouTube, where should always look first... Thanks again!!!

Re: Popular Halloween movies?
I truely wonder how much Halloween are we going to see on the main stream tv this year. It seems that as far as tv is concerned, Hallloween is not worth while any more. I'm sure they will at least air the "Charlie Brown" special, but I have that on DVD.
Of course, they already had several of the Halloween episodes of some of the old classic tv shows.
