Made our own tombstones
I've been dying to show these off to people how might really appreciate them, ha. Myself, my daughter, and my brother worked our butts off over the past two Saturdays making 25 someodd stones for our frontyard/graveyard. Here's just a few...
I can't wait to set up the yard but I get the feeling that it's too early. One more lawn mow and we're going for it!!~

Looks great !!! I just put mine in the yard yesterday.did you use spray paint? how did you keep it from eating away the styrofoam if you did. how do you post them in the ground? I tried stakes last year.. didn't work to well.... this year I am trying wooden dowels 8 inches long. 4 inches in the ground and the 4 inches in the headstone. hopefully they wont blow away.

the light gray didn't eat the styrofoam, but the silver did! I think it depends on the color, I hear black eats it quickly.
I haven't put them out yet- I'm thnking of using cut hangers for some, and dowel/bamboo for some others. We shall see. I'm hoping that we don't get any severe storms between now and the 31st~

lol, thank ya, thank ya. I wish I could take credit for that one but my brother came up with it. Although, I suspect that Dr.Nick might not actually be "killed off" from the series...I hope not anyway. Hopefully he just shows up with a band-aid, recovering from the injuries inflicted upon him in the movie.

Looking forward to it, and thanks!
I'll post pics of my finished cemetary too, it's our first one ever. Last year we had two fresh graves which were nice and simple. I'm still tossing around the idea of having a creepy fence...or not. I'd rather not spend the cash on the store bought ones, and I've yet to see one simple and cheap enough to make on my own.

Re: Made our own tombstones
I took some pieces of wood and jigsawed them and then Painted them with gray premier and painted in Black Letters R.I.P. and then cut out stakes and nailed them in I really love making my Yard Haunted. I have always done the haunted Graveyard scene/ haunted morgue as my house. I will try to post pics.

Re: Made our own tombstones
It's the quality of the spray paint that makes the difference. I give mine a coat of gray then a thin layer of the stone paint over it. I use those metal shelf brackets that are L shaped. One end into the gravestone and the other is above ground on the back. I set a rock or brick on it and they stay pretty well. You can pick up a sheet of 4' x 8' x 1" for under $10 at home improvement stores. it will make several depending on how big you want them. They have thicker if you like but of course, it costs more.
Re: Made our own tombstones
Here is an idea, you might hot glue two 10 to 14 inch pieces of 1/2 inch pvc pipe to the back of the tombstone vertical on each side and then you will have to find the the little yard signs with the metal legs, cut the metal legs with bolt cutters but you will want to leave the angle part at the top so when you push them into the ground they won't injure you hands. The angle part will also keep the tombstone from lifting off the ground and flying down the street. The pvc pipe can be found at any home improvement center and can be cut with a hack saw to the proper lenght.
The angle on the metal legs can also be used to pull the tombstone from the ground at the end of the evening so your display doesn't become somebody elses display.

they look amazing!!! great job
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
