Where are you from?

Post by Rising Dead Man » Tue Sep 09, 2008 5:08 pm

Lets see how far away we are from each other.

I am from Vermont. But you will never know what town!
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

I'm from Virginia about a mile away from the beach. I live in Norfolk, just about across the line of Virginia Beach. :D

You're from TX?

Have you ever heard or read the story about Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Just curious. I believe I heard it was based on a true story about the cannibal family who runs the gas station and owns the farmhouse killing people for foods, isn't that true? If so, please lemme know. I find it hardly to believe! :?

It's one of my favorite movies :) As far as I know it's not real. Parts of it are loosely based on Ed Gein. Other than that it's fiction. Although Texas is HUGE. It's mostly country and the backroads are creepy and filled with some...odd...people.

Ok, well, I think it might be fiction... But I heard it was told by the story about the Leatherface and his family did killing people on August 1973, something like that... They ran away to Mexico when the occur situation the police were doing the investigation... I'm not 100% sure... :?

I believe it was named by Hewitt family! I really don't know which city they were from in TX?

Texas Chainsaw Massacre isn't a "true story"... like October Chill says, it's loosely based on serial killer Ed Gein. More so because the cops, when they discovered Gein was the killer, went through his house and found bowls out of skulls and lampshades made out of skin. Aside from that, that's as close to the psycho Leatherface family as it gets. It didn't even happen in Texas...

If you're interested in reading about Gein, they have a really sweet article on him at crimelibrary.com ( Link to the Story)

They also have a story on the Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The film claims to be based on actual events, but this is a "false document" technique, dating back two centuries in fiction and used to heighten suspense. The idea that such an incident actually happened makes it more intriguing. Even today, viewers believe that the events in TCM are true.
As for me... I live in Southern Arizona, though I grew up in Phoenix.

I am in Knoxville Tennessee.
No famous scary stories around here.
My neighbor hanged himself in my barn about 9 years ago. He spent all day in the loft making little nooses out of twine and hanging them on a nail. He threw a rope over a high rafter and stepped off of the tractor. He was found about 11pm by his girlfriend. TOD was about 5 hours earlier.
We left everything as we found it. We no longer use the barn.
I am the shadow on the moon at night
Filling your dreams to the brim with fright,

I think I mentioned that I live in Upstate New York. o.o
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

I live in Henderson, Nevada about 30 minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. I like living away from the Strip, not so much traffic. I hate the heat here, I would much rather live in a cooler climate. I would love to live by the beach or in the mountains. The landscaping here consists of rocks and not grass. Not much to do here since we don't gamble or strip lol
