It sounds interesting to me.

what is the price limit?

is this a direct swap between 2 members, or is it at random?

can there be a forum where we can post pix of what we received?

inquiring minds want to know.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

Sounds good idea!

How can we start like this? Any suggestions?

An Idea:

We send HalloweenCom a PM of who we want to give a gift to. If that person is already taken we choose another. A Secret Reaper! Do we ever find out who sent us our gifts?

I pasted this from an old post I received in 2006. This was the info from HauntMaster MichealMyers from 2006.

What : The sharing of small Halloween gifts with other members!

Who : Anyone who would like to participate!

What to send : Each person will send their partner a small list of 4-5 items they enjoy about Halloween-(items coming off a wish list from the receiving member comined with items picked out by the sending member.) They can include anything! Stickers, candy, webs, small lights, pens, paper decorations etc. Senders are encouaged to send items off wish list, while mixing it up with other Halloween items to make it a surprise! *Please make sure that only new items are sent-not used. If you have new items in your possession already that you would like to send, thats fine (as most of us probably do!) as long as the package/wrapping is unopened.

Price : Total for gift packages, including shipping should be $15.00 minimum, $20.00 maximum.

How : Please post on this thread that you are interested in participating. Then PM me with your name and address and wishlist. I will then assign partners to swap with and send you their information by PM.

Sign Up Deadline for Participating : October 1st.

Packages must be mailed by : October 15th.

I found last years post and it was deadlined in September.

I don't know who is going to run this, this year. Whoever it is I want in!
I am getting excited!!! It's getting close!

Before we get things all organized and start a sign-up, there's a few things we ought to agree on. Such as:

*Minimum Amount to Spend: A base amount, or would you want this to be asked in the sign-up, so people with similar budgets can be matched? (Don't forget postage... overseas postage is more expensive!)

*Shipping: How do you want to handle over-seas shipping? Try to match over-sea participants? Or ask, in the sign-up, if people would be willing to ship overseas?

*Date to ship by: Obviously, you'd want to get the package before Halloween. Overseas packages will probably need to be shipped a month early. Everyone should get their package BEFORE Halloween.

*How to Partner Up: Would you want to do a trade (as in the same two people exchange gifts) OR would you want to mix things up and have different people send to each other? Who do you want to pair people up? (Volunteers?)

*Address Exchange: How do you want to exchange addresses? Do you want a 3rd party to organize them all? (If yes, who? Volunteers only, not people who are volunteered.) Do you want pairs to exchange addresses (this would alleviate "surprise")? This might determine how trades are done. This could also be a sensitive subject since a lot of people are internet-wary, and rightly so.

*Items Sent: New items only? Used items only? Mixed new and used items?

*Questions for Sign-Up: What should be on the sign-up? Items you're interested in? Themes you like? Your tastes in Halloween? Anyone you don't feel comfortable exchanging with (done in PM to the person setting up pairs)? Do you want to ship overseas? Do you live in the states, Europe, etc? Your price range? Etc.

*Deadline to sign-up: Dates? Oct 1st?

*Late Entries: Do we want to pair up late-comers as the sign-up or not accept them at all? If we pair them up, when is the last possible date to match people?

*Cancellation: If for some reason, you cannot participate, what you'd do to let people know. How would this effect the exchange lists?

*Disclaimer: Include one? "Participate at your own risk"?

I think that covers the basics....

I MIGHT have time to organize something, but I'd rather leave it open for someone else who may be dying to take charge.

Let us make sure not overly complicate the process.

I think it should be optional. You can buy something or trade soimething you already own.

Ok, sounds good. Once we get all the ideas and a general agreement on how to do it, I'll put a summary up, and then people can join or not. ;-)

Im in too. Anyone from the UK interested.

If I can make a suggestion....

I think that its going to be a bit messy if everyone starts posting ideas on how this should work and we willproably need a few weeks to come to some consensus. So can i take the Bull by the horns and suggest this

1. Everyone pairs off by posting willingness to participate on the boards and then through PMs.

2. A top budget of $15 dollars (or the equivalent if youre in another country) is set so that no one feels obliged to spend more than this, unless individual "couples" agree differently through PM.

3. All parcels contain fun items with Halloween links.

4. All parcels are sent no later than October 16th

Straight forward?
What do you think?
The steeples are white in the wild moonlight,
And the trees have a silver glare;
Past the chimneys high see the vampires fly,
And the harpies of upper air,
That flutter and laugh and stare.
