I have been doing it all my life too. Ever since I can remember I was the one in the house that put up all the decorations for every holiday.

Since I was a kid my parents were proud that I liked Halloween more than Christmas because they knew it wasn't about the presents for me but the fun that I got out of Halloween that made me love it the most. They encouraged me to "express" myself as a kid and often bought me tons of decorations and helped me make my own which I still do to this day.

My MOM didn't LIKE halloween...'just stupid' she would mutter..but there was NO denying GRAMMA..
My Dad's attitude was that it was better then me experimenting with LSD so what the heck?
Mom kept the Halloween decorations in a big box in the attic and we would always have to muscle her to get them down..and she would buy a FEW more evey year..and BEMOAN the fact it got MORE AND MORE COMMERCIAL every year..
Eventually, when Gramma won, she would just LOOK at me and wonder WHERE this Halloween urge came from, and I would just shrug..fshe got to the point where she would have the plastc pumpkin out and count the trick or treaters..not a bad adaptation
Future events such as these will effect you in the future

I have been decorating just about my whole life too. I use to make decorations too when I was a kid. I always drew stuff on construction paper and hung it in the windows. We never decorated to the extreme that people do now. The only real decorations we had were 2 of those plastic pumpkin people (they are vintage now)- I still have them.

But, I remember taking Ceramic lessons on Saturdays when I was a kid, and my favorite thing I ever made was this ceramic little girl, and I painted her to have brown hair and green eyes (like me)...and she had a black witch's dress on, and was holding a treat bag, and there was a black cat beside her, and she had a seperate ceramic witch's mask that went with her...and I still have her to this day too.

My mom painted a Ceramic Haunted House that lights up, and it had glitter in the windows...I thought it was so cool too.

As soon as I got my own place...then that was it...I started buying Halloween stuff, and never stopped.

I love reading all the posts here...I still have a few pieces I had as a kid in the 70's, a rubber skeleton and a couple of other things. I don't know how I've managed to hang onto even a couple of pieces. I guess they're pretty important to me so I keep them in special boxes and over the years have made sure not to lose them.

When I was little, I used to love Halloween time. I still do. SOmething about the Fall in Upstate NY always puts me in a happy mood.

Anyways, I always decorated the house with those silly little static cling window decals every year, and every year, we would buy more of them to decorate with.

We also had this huge spider web lookin' thing that was really neat.

OH! And my grandmother also used to make little ghosts using a balled up piece of newspaper, and tissue/napkin, and a black marker.

Ahhh the good 'ol days.
Too cool for sigs!

I have decorated a little when I was little. My parents bought me those cardboard Halloween cut outs. And I out some on the house outside. I remember putting ghost window clings on the window downstairs. In more recent years I put decorations outside. But they looked sucky. Last year was OK but not good. It gets better every year though.
I think this year will look better then the past years.
Halloween wraps fear in innocence,
As though it were a slightly sour sweet.
Let terror, then, be turned into a treat...

I remember cutting out punkins and bats and putting them in my parents front window. I have loved Halloween most of all since I can remember!

Since I was wee. Some of my earliest memories center around Halloween (and Christmas). My mum made a number of homemade witch and other things, great stuff . . . and we actually sang Halloween songs.
