Anyone have families that hate Halloween?

Post by BasiliskZero » Fri Jul 18, 2008 7:41 am

Having a fundamentalist Christian for a mom certainly tends to put a damp on this particular holiday.
I get around it by amassing decorations to put in my room and going out on Halloween night. :D Every year around late August I start dragging out my candles, knick-knacks, lights, etc. And start on that years' big project. (Once a big paper mache spider, last year a dead paper mache tree that didn't turn out so great. Not sure what this year will have... Maybe a big mutant plant in a pot. That sings. Yes.)

How many of you guys have to deal with family that thinks Halloween is the devils' birthday? Or did anyone come from that background and is making up for it now? Just curious. ^^

Well, some of my family likes Halloween, some others don't! :?

Some people think that Halloween is the day where there are devils coming around, but that's not true. Of course, some people think that is so... then Jack O' Lantern is out there preventing the devil from walking around this Earth. :D

Never had that problem. Thankfully. My family is made up of people who love Halloween or are indifferent. No haters here.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

I have a few members who have that ultra narrow view of Halloween and see it only as evil.
The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.

Halloween isn't evil. Halloween is a holiday laughing at Death and the Devil by making things that the Devil uses to frighten us with, and make it fun.

I do not think it is mocking death and evil. I think it is just making it fun.

I mean it is not making fun of it. It is just celebrating it, but not in an evil way.

Nope, no haters in my blood line.
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

My parents told me about a relative that does not believe in Halloween. My mom said to her on the phone "Bye. We are taking the kids trick or treating now." and she answered back, saying all this stuff about evil and the devil. PPPFFF!!!

Well, yep... I have some haters here! :(

My mom, some aunts, a few uncles, and outside of my families don't like Halloween! :? BUT I am so glad some people around my community love Halloween!

Guess what? My family won't visit my house in mid-October!

Another Halloween icon is once again under attack across the United States, hanging dummy props just like black people. Some thugs are running amok putting down these Halloween decorations in the name of stopping racism, wasting time of our police forces, and undoubtedly gone to be attempting to find the courts with baseless litigation and our law books with more rediculious legislation.

So, in honor of this latest attack on our Halloween freedom by these ultra terrorist thugs, I did hanging dummy-<deleted> props already last year on Halloween Day! And, I urge everyone who cares about Halloween and freedom to do the same!
