Halloween 2008
Well, it's July and that time of the year for me, my cousin, and grandpa to start preparing for our Haunted House and Yard Display in October. And what props need to be made and props to be purchased.
So what does everyone have planned for this year's Halloween?

Re: Halloween 2008
Living in NYC now, I have a few ideas for new activities this year:
1) I definitely want to take in one of the Halloween parades in the Village.
2) I hope to take a short trip upstate to visit Sleepy Hollow.
3) I'd love to take in a haunted house and neighborhood trick-or-treating.
4) And, of course, watch as many horror movies and television specials as I can! I'm a huge fan of AMC's MonsterFestâ€â€despite the fact that it often sucksâ€â€so that will be a part of my holiday entertainment too.
Working in politics and given the close proximity to Election Day, I'll likely be busy as hell during that period, but still plan to get my halloween-fix!

Re: Halloween 2008
This is usually the time where I figure out what my costume is going to be, and so far I haven't had any luck.
In 2005 I was a Psychotic Dennis the Menace. In 2006, I was a Vampire Tourist. And last year, I was a Zombie Pinocchio. I'm wondering if I should keep the bizarre hybrid costume theme going.
And now I should start listening to my Spooktacular Halloween Mix CD that I made a couple years ago

Can someone please tell me what you're referring to as Halloween music (i.e., song titles and musicians); I've never heard of this before now. Thanks!

Love your Obama photo, by the wayhippieluvn wrote:What qualifies as "halloween music"?
Halloween music can be a lot of different things. In can be soundtracks to films like The Nightmare Before Christmas or a collection of horror movie themes. Or albums from bands like Type O Negative, Danzig, etc. There is even a New Wave Halloween compilation that features "Everyday is Halloween" by Ministry and "Dead Man's Party" by Oingo Boingo, among others). And there are a few albums that I've always just associated with October/autumn/Halloween, just because I was listening to them obsessively during that time of year--so even though they have nothing to do with Halloween, they still put me in the holiday spirit immediately.

Two of my favorite Halloween songs are 10+ minute metal epics: Helloween's "Halloween" and Type O Negative's "Black Number 1". Glorious and spooky!

Re: Halloween 2008
Here in Phoenix Arizona
In 2003 My brother and I had our last great Halloween together. He dressed up as Michael Myers and I dressed up as Jason Voorhees. We drove all around North Phoenix, then he had the idea to go to Mill Avenue in Tempe AZ. Mill avenue is a street of bars and clubs, which are frequented by ASU students. If Halloween falls on a Friday or Saturday night, students and locals alike will dress up and walk up and down Mill avenue.
This year, which might be my last year in Arizona before returning to Missouri, he and I are dressing up for Mill avenue again.
Even though I bought a brand new rubber Jason mask and large plastic machete, I may have to change ideas because of my recent weight gain. So I might have to go the Leatherface route. If I do, I will sell my brand new Jason mask with large machete as a set.

The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.

Hey Grim, I'm going to be building a mini haunt/party for adults, and some children...Do you have any suggestions or tips for doing something inexpensive yet something everyone would enjoy? I'll have about 75 guests, so I have to come up with something good! Thanks!

Re: Halloween 2008
Don't have anything planned for H 2008 except trick or treating with my 3 little ones. I will say this though. This year it falls on a Friday, which means I will get in excess of 200 TOTers. I should really think about doing a full yard haunt. Just need a little adult help. Maybe I'll ask my brother to spend Halloween I my house.
Because once you cross that bridge, my friend, the ghost is through, his power ends.

The best costumes and props can be bought from the Party City, trust me, they're so awesome!!! Yes, they're inexpensive!! When it is around, I mean, near Halloween time, they will provide 50% discount on everything! That's why I bough everything last year and a couple of years ago... Even, I made my own props. Well, for children, you can set your own Halloween party if you want to, put out some cupcakes, some snacks, and fruit punch that you can think of making it! Anything for your yard haunt, you can always check at Party City.
