Re: Health and Personal Issues (Call on your friends)
I hate going to the doctor, so I have no idea what state my battered body is really in...
My health issues?
I did something to my back when I was 23... I maneuvered funny trying to dodge backstock in the fridge while holding 2 cases of bottled water (I used to work at a minimart) and "tweaked" it. I never got it checked out, but I periodically have issues with it since then. Oh, well...
I also have stress issues. In college I was diagnosed with "Abdominal Vericose Veins", which I wouldn't wish on anyone. In the 9-months it took to diagnose, it hurt to yawn, stretch, cough, sneeze... and pretty much do anything... because when I thought about it, I'd "stress". I rang in the year 2000 making bile offerings to the porcelain god because it hurt that bad. In fact, I vomited every morning for 9-months. I had to have surgery to diagnose it and have been relatively peachy since then. It still hurts from time-to-time, but I'm learning to manage my stress better (apathy helps)... though this condition has caused other issues for things in that area...
Because I vomited daily, I now have the gag reflex of a Bulimic. My intestines also get cranky-pants now (cranky as in I'll wake up in pain)... so I probably have IBS... I woke up screaming one morning and went to the doc about it, but he thought I was making up my history of "abdominal vericose veins" (I have a new doctor now). I haven't seen a doc about it since because one of the ways to help IBS is to eat more veggies. I've been trying to eat healthier since.
I also have "equipment" issues because they first thought my condition was Endometriosis, and some of the blisters on my insides were near my "gear". This occasionally is cause for my heart to leap into my mouth when I have a "misfire"... which I'm discovering is probably "normal" now... so I'll just be stressed every 3rd month thinking my husband knocked me up and wondering how he's going to come up with rent if I have to stay home to spawn.
I also had Pneumonia in my right lung in 2003-ish, which was complicated by my asthma and allergies. So... every February and October, I have to make sure I don't get a lung infection. I got Pneumonia because I was working 30-35 hrs/wk and taking 18 credits at the university so I could graduate because I was running out of money for school (any more info than that and this turns into a soap opera I refer to as "My Sucky College Years"). Since I had Pneumonia, I've had 2 minor lung infections... so... my right lung is pretty weak.
I think that's the major stuff. I mean, there's also things I've been dealing with for years- my right patella likes to slide, so my knee locks and swells; I have horrible eyesight; I grind my teeth in my sleep... and occasionally during the winter, the top of my left foot hurts really, really bad because of the ligament I pulled in 1999.
... as far as things I might get...
My family has a history of depression (my mom and sister are on meds) and female issues... Glaucoma is also in my bloodlines. So there are bound to be other issues as I get older and break more. I try not to think of those 'till they hit. In the meantime, I'll take evasive maneuvers and do what I can to avoid them... but ultimately, I really don't care because I'm eventually going to die anyway. That's where that apathy comes in, so I don't stress about my health. =D

Re: Health and Personal Issues (Call on your friends)
First let me say you are all in my prayers.
My health issues can all be tied to one word LUPUS. I have been struggling with it and all the side effects for years. It and the predinsone I had to take for so long has caused everything from obesity to degenerative disc disease in my back. I try to take it in stride because I am also a cancer SURVIVOR! Five years cancer free this past july. When you have been told you have a year to live and all these years later here I sit, I just thank God daily. Because although I hurt and I struggle, I am alive to see my kids and grandkids.

Oooh... very non-fun. My mom has Lupus. That's rough. She takes it in stride, though!

I'm OCD and high-functioning Aspie.
I suppose that's why I'm always trying to post in as many topics as I can, to keep the list of names in order...

Re: Health and Personal Issues (Call on your friends)
I see myself as physically pretty healthy, but I don't go to the doctor at all. The only thing that bothers me is insomnia and I also go through bouts of pretty bad depression. The two occur at the same time. They come and go. I just have to realize what's going on and snap myself out of it. I hate not having control of myself.
I feel for you guys that have major physical issues. I hate to see anybody go through life being in pain so much. I'm a big believer in positive energy and will power, so I'm sending out as much good vibes as I can.
And man I hope deadbride is doing better too. I pray most of her issues got resolved by now.
