We're having ours this Friday and I am seriously in the same boat. There is still so much to do, and so much that can't be done until the absolute last minute, as you well know, and it's just crazy. I'm expecting 17 3rd graders..a difficult crowd to impress (well, not really because at times they're quite easily impressed!) I think I stress too much on everything being perfect down to the last detail. The simplest things, sometimes, can be the most impressive.

Wow, Stranger With Candy, 17 3rd graders! Good luck! I'm sure you'll have fun though.
I'll bet living in a nudist colony takes all the fun out of Halloween. -Charles Swartz

Well, spookyboo and stranger, I can TOTALLY RELATE!!!!
I am coming down to the wire as well, and lost two days sunday and monday due to illness, so I'm definitely feeling the crunch.
But I'm still here, and I still love you guys, and I can't wait to share pics of the big event. The hubby has been working like a dog, too, to get all the decorations done and up. But i'll be worth it, it already looks awesome!!
Hugs from Hooch

I feel I must apologise for my absence as well - I am in the same boat as you guys! I was very ill with the flu for nearly 2 and a half weeks, and this totally threw a spanner into the works for my plans. On Sunday, I wrote out a schedule of everything that needs to me done for my mum's party on Saturday and for my party on Wednesday. I had to cancel a shift at work this week because I simply just wouldn't have had the time to do work alongside all the party planning, University, I have had 2 birthdays and spend last night at Auditions for our Drama Society's play. I am behind my schedule but I'm getting there slowly - today is THE DAY to make my dreadlocks for the Tia Dalma costume and to finish the Akasha costume, but I also have to go go out to pick up my contact lenses, post out a parcel and buy some more material to make a top for Akasha because I couldn't find a suitable one in the shops. *hyperventilates*
My mum is driving down to pick me up and take me back to Portsmouth tomorrow night - and before that I need to make sure that I have made the music CDs, got my Akasha costume sorted (preferably Tia Dalma's too), packed my overnight bags and done all the washing I need to do. Friday will be spent taking out my Halloween dreadlocks, dying my hair and putting in the extensions for Akasha, and then in the evening I've planned a little Halloween Horror movie night (finally, a bit of relaxation!) Then Saturday's the party day, so we'll be going to the big supermarket to get food for mum's party and I will be doing the shopping for my own party as well to save time! Then it's a case of final party preparations, carving a JOL, doing everyone's make-up, moulding the fangs, putting on the false nails and getting myself ready And party!
After mum's party, on Sunday, I will be travelling back to Brighton. In the evening I will be blitzing the flat to make sure everything is clean - then I have to take out the Akasha extensions and install the Tia Dalma dreads, and the three days of <deleted> decorating, pumpkin carving and final party touches ensues. Luckily I have some help in the way of my beloved and my friend on the actual day of Halloween, so hopefully this will end in a wonderful time and not a nervous breakdown!!!
Gah.. sorry for such a long post

Well I certainly commend all you ladies for toughing it out and getting ready to throw the best Halloween gatherings around despite illnesses, time crunches, and stupid Royal Mail striking . No one can keep your Halloween spirits down! And that's inspiration for the rest of us! Can't wait to see everyone's pictures!
All we are doing is having 3 couples with their children and my cousin over Halloween night for games and trick-or-treating, a candy gorging session afterwards...not a big-scale celebration, but hopefully everybody will enjoy themselves. Last year my friend stationed herself at our door to give out candy, hopefully she will again so I'll be free with the camera!

Hi All
Sorry to hear that you have been unwell for so long Magickbean! Hope you start to feel better soon!!
I, like you have been up to my eyes
My pc has given me nothing but grief over the last week which has seriously hampered my plans. Still trying to get my Witches Kitchen bottles finished
The decorations finally started to up this evening.....started carving the JOL as well 2 down 23 to go!
I start the food preparations tomorrow....not a single food store in my area has any black grapes at the moment and my spider flan just will not look the same without them
I have approx 40 people arriving at 4.30 saturday afternoon and I am starting to panic a little but hey ho! Hubby keeps telling me it will all work out in the end
I do hope he is right!
I doubt I am going to get another chance to catch up with before the weekend now so I hope all of you that are having your parties over this weekend have a REALLY FAB TIME
As soon as I can I will post the piccies and I can't wait to look through eveyone elses.
Enjoy Everyone!!!!!!!
