Instant Burial Urns

Post by I B Howlin' Wolfman » Sun Sep 23, 2007 12:37 pm

Using a pasta sauce jar, I'm making some small burial urns. I have
yet to add something to the lids of the jars, to make them look better.
And I'm trying to think of some sort of "feet" for the bottoms too.
Come check it out...

Very neat idea, and quite authentic looking too.

I gotta to paint a few more of them today. I was planning on using marbles as feet for the urns, (epoxy) but I have yet to figure out what to use to add to the lids. I was thinking of some sort of wire to hide the twist-off top "threads", (if they call them that.)

Guess I gotta raid the craft bin and see what I can scare up.

Woah! What a great idea. They look very real too. Are you going to put anything (ashes or something) in them or leave them empty? Are you going to paint any designs on them?

"Herman"
"Lilly"
&
"Grandpa"
will be painted on the first three. Wish I had a bigger jar for Herman.

I'm going to epoxy marbles to the bottom of the jars. then spray those gold too. I didn't paint the bottoms. I never thought of doing so. The clean glass will let the epoxy stick.

Four more jars are in the sink, having the lables soaked off. The toughest part is scrubbing the adhesive off, (for a smooth paintable surface.)

What a creative use of those jar's. I think I may just have to copy that a bit and make some of my own if you don't mind!! Here is an idea that I had for the feet. The use of flower pot feet. They can be found at just about any garden shop, and I have seen like frogs, cats even fancy ones.... Just an idea to go with !! Keep posting, cant wait to see your end results !!
