Re: First signs of season
I just watched a News segment about this autumn is supposed to be above-average warm in all 50 states. You're not alone.

I hope Winter is above normal temps. Ice and snow are no friends of mine. Not even at Christmas time.

Re: First signs of season
Our last few winters were really off the charts.
3 years ago we had back-to-back ice storms, the kind you see in the upper Midwest, but lasting for a week at a time.
Last year we broke our 1- day snow total at 14".
Our town is only 300' above sea level, in a large coastal valley.
It even snowed on the beach several times.
So yeah, looking forward to that global warming...

Re: First signs of season
People around here are beginning to display their Halloween finery, but the weather is still broiling. Not today so much, but the heat has been sizzling and is predicted to rev up again. We are all so tired of it. The trees are just giving up, shaking their scorched brown leaves to the ground all over the place.

It was ridiculously beautiful so I went for a short drive to a local vegetable farm.

Omg that is so beautiful!
Fall around here is being such a dud. It rained all summer long, then the spigot got turned off. Driest Sept on record, and hot as Hades.

That's a great pic, Andy. I went to Dwight a couple of days ago and shot photos of the abandoned Dwight Correctional Institution for Women. As soon as I have them ready, I'll post a few.

Yesterday I was running the air conditioner, and today I had to use the furnace. Right now, temps are hovering just a little above 50 degrees, and it's only a quarter of 8.

It's down right chilly right now, and the leaves are finally starting to turn color.
