Wow this is an old thread. But I didn't want to make a new one on this movie. We just bought and watched it tonight.
I thought it was great! There was a lot of awesome concepts used in this movie, and I thought it had a lot of originality, while touching base on the afterlife. The idea of astral projection and the body being left vulnerable kind of makes sense.

I haven't watched that one in a while. I seem to recall that it was good, but I didn't like the ending.

Re: Insidious (2011)
What was it about it you didn't like? I'm just curious is all.
It was sad that the father never got his real spirit back and that the lady who helped him got killed in the end.
I can see what you meant about it having a poltergeist like feel to it.

It was the way things went for the dad that I didn't like. I want to see families united at the end of these movies. I guess I am old-fashioned like that! LOL

Re: Insidious (2011)
You do have a point there. It would have been nice to have had it where the dad faced his fear and defeated the evil woman. But instead she ended up possessing his body.
I wonder why the son in the movie had a demon go after him but the dad had that parasitical woman? Weird. Different demons for different people?
But I suppose that's what opens it up to a sequel. It gave it a Nightmare on Elmstreet kind of ending.

I personally thought the sequel was better, and it definitely continues on from the first. I have the third movie on my Netfix but I doubt it'll get here before next weekend since there're other things I want to see first.

I guess we'll have to see those ones too then.
I hope the father eventually gets his soul back.
