That's a good idea. That way fellow haunters have a reference they can refer to when shopping for spooktacular goods.

I will take and post some pictures, possibly as early as Wednesday.NeverMore wrote:
Hmmm... I'm gonna have to check out Crate & Barrel, see what kind of goodies they carry. We need to start a list of stores that carry Halloween goods, along with what kind of stuff they have.

Had some of the Sam Adams Octoberfest last night. Not bad. Pretty smooth.

Re: First signs of season
Good morning everyone!
About three weeks until the first sprinklings of fall go up at my house. I always like to drag out the fall décor on August 31. Pumpkins, fake leaf. There may be a jack-o-lantern or two mixed in, but I save the actually Halloween stuff for late September. But I like to get started on fall around Labor Day. So I pick August 31 so it's ready on September 1. Also, my daughter's birthday is Sept. 1, so I don't want to do anything to distract from her day.
It should be interesting this year. I am moving to a new house on August 20. As someone who grows very attached to things, I am not happy about leaving my home that I love. But we have outgrown it, and we found a nice house nearby. I will have to take some more time with my display this year as it is new territory.
I'm rambling, I know. But I am actually excited this morning. I've been dealing with some heavy stuff lately, and have been unable to look forward to or enjoy most things. So having a morning where I am actually excited for fall is a blessing, as these days have been rare lately. I hope I can get back to normal by the time October rolls around. Hoping to enjoy the cool weather, hunting, the Packers, sweatshirts, frosty mornings and Halloween.
Have a great day everyone.

Re: First signs of season
I finally got the Halloween itch. It's late coming this year!
I was moonlighting on my husband's Captain Ahab idea... I told him we should make a white whale pinata and do a fishing game for candy... he told me no... but that doesn't mean no... not really, anyway. Bwahahaha! Now we're looking up info on how to make a peg leg. This is always dangerous business because I like to over-engineer. I'm already thinking of scrimshaw patterns and ways to bind his real leg!
... so much for my Regency gown... I have whalers on the brain! Arr!

That sounds like an interesting and original idea for a theme Jade! A sailor theme. I've heard of piratey themes but I bet you could do some kind of a sea horror kind of theme. Maybe you could include Davey Jone's locker!
I was greet in the Dollar General store today by a couple wraiths hanging in front of some candy. Then I saw the Halloween stuff in the seasonal aisle. Sweet! I turned the corner and found more Halloween stuff, and some of the pumpkin spice air fresheners. And they still weren't done getting that stuff out. O_O I can't wait to see the full display.
I wish our local Walmart did more. It seems like the one in New York did more than the one here in Virginia. But that could just be me, or maybe it seems like less because they spread it out more; but I remember they'd use the lawn and garden section or close to that area anyway for their holiday stuff. They just better not put that Christmas stuff out first! They tend to put the Christmas stuff out in the lawn and garden section and then have this tiny section for Halloween stuff, and a small section for just fall stuff. They have the candy sure but one thing I really like looking at is all the spooky decorations. And usually the Halloween stuff is basically...costumes and maybe a few little blow ups and trinkets. That's about it.

The lights look cool, looks like you have yourself a good collection walking corpse!
I like the silhouette of the black against the orange as well in the designs.

My Sept. AllYou magazine came. It has Halloween on the cover! A cat and a mouse, made of pumpkins.
