I once bought a '58 Plymouth Fury at a used car lot. Named her Christine...

I'm currently working at a used car lot, and that is where I wrote the story... (during my lunch break boss...)

Re: Halloween Half-Pagers
Best story yet!!! In that it really hit home for me.
The town I grew up in had a really cool amusement park. I and my friends practically lived there growing up. Not long after I moved to Cali, a welder's torch sparked a fire that took out a good chunk of the park. They tried to recover but eventually tore the place down. For the longest time the remains of the Wild Cat, one of the top coasters in the world at the time, just sat there rotting away. After seeing how the citizens of San Diego banded together and restored the Giant Dipper I tried to spearhead an online movement to do the same with the Wildcat. Alas, it was not to be.
![Crying or Very sad ](./images/smilies/icon_cry.gif)
The memories are still there though. I feel bad that the kids of today are missing out on this amazing experience, but they probably would have been looking down at their phones the whole time. Gawd! I miss the Whacky Shack and Kooky Castle, which helped introduce me to the crazier, spooky side of life.
Sigh...
I'll let the video take it from here. I'm getting too melancholy. If any amusement park ever truly had a ghost, this would be it.

Wow, your amusement park was almost 100 years old! Nashville still mourns the loss of Opryland, which was here for 25 years. It got bought by a group from Belgium that wanted a year-round attraction (IOW, a shopping mall). My husband and I refuse to go to that mall.
Neat little story!

Thanks!!!
I've been on the Giant Dipper a couple times, it's good. I've my own lost childhood amusement park, called Crystal Beach Amusement Park. Located next to Lake Erie in Canada. It had the dark rides the Magic Palace and Laugh in the Dark. Along with North America's 2nd most famous wooden roller coaster the Comet. Sadly the place was torn down in 89 after over a hundred years of operation. Now it's just another beach housing area. I have since found the best classic amusement park ever and it is still around! Santa Cruz boardwalk! Famous from the movie Lost Boys, it sports 3 haunted houses and one of America's oldest still running roller coasters. Plus I'm going there later this summer Yea!!!! http://beachboardwalk.com/
Oh and if I ever become a millionaire I will open a haunted amusement park and it would be free for all ghosts!

If you get a chance to go to L.A. check out the Santa Monica Pier. There's a whole amusement park over the water.

I live in LA, aside from the ferris wheel, the SM rides are not so great. Before the late sixties LA had a lot of great classic beach amusement parks, but sadly they are all gone, and that was all before my time...

You know, I have had nightmares occasionally where I murdered somebody. I was so relieved to awaken and realize it was just a dream! I guess the poor guy in your story lives my nightmare. . . .

yeah, the poor guy doesn't even get to enjoy the nightmare, he just gets to wake up with the mess afterwards... I hear he is looking for roommates, any takers?
