Finally got to go on my dream vacation: Salem, Ma. in Oct.!

I feel very lucky that I am able to be here in Salem, MA for the Halloween kickoff events at the beginning of Oct. For those who have never been, its like Halloween capital. Halloween on steroids. Where being a Halloween fanatic is not unusual, but expected. Hope you all are enjoying the beginning of October also!

You're kidding! I was just there too! Got back yesterday. Were you there for the parade last Thursday? We were told that the parade kicks off 4 consecutive weeks of Halloween in Salem. How crazy! We might have run into each other or gone to the same attractions at the same time

One year my wife and I will go to Halloween in Salem. Being in NJ we're not all that far. We really want to be there for Halloween itself but we shall see what ends up happening. I would also like to join in the demand for pictures from the both of you!

If you pass by the house from Hocus Pocus get some pics. It was at an address something like 1 Ocean St. or Ave. I saw someone's pics a few years ago online. Couldn't believe it was a real house.

Well Pumpkin heads you are in luck. I have pics of both Max and Dani's house (yes it's on Ocean Ave) and of Allison's mansion (Essex St). Also have pics of where Thackery's little village was filmed. The Sanderson sister house was in need of repairs so it was kind of off limits but I understand next year it's supposed to become a gift shop.

Okay here we go pumpkin heads. First we have the Witch House. None of the trials actually took place here. It was the home of Judge Hathorne who presided over the trials. He was Nathanial Hawthorne's great great grandfather (I think) and the later was so ashamed of the association, he changed the spelling of his last name.



Next we have the Salem Witch Memorial. Each stone has the name of each person who was executed. There are also stones alone the outside engraved with things that some of the victims cried out before they were hanged.



I'm sure most of you are familiar with the history of the trials and some of the more notable victims. Here are the stones of John Proctor and Rebecca Nurse. I also included George Burroughs because I found it interesting that he was actually a reverend and even that couldn't save him from being hanged.

Next up are photos from The Burying Point which is a large cemetery near the memorial, The Grimshaw House (Nathanial Hawthorne's wife lived here and it is supposedly haunted by a young boy who once lived there and was mistakenly buried alive. He is buried in the cemetery you see.) and the Witch Museum. The Burying Point has a Mayflower passenger and Judge Hathorne and if I'm not mistaken, was filmed briefly in Hocus Pocus--I think the part when Max is riding his bike home from school.

Fun fact: Allison's house is supposedly one of the most haunted places in Salem.
