I wish I could win the lottery.
Now I did apply for a better job, at least one more closely related to what I went to school for. Here's hoping I get it.

I think we should start a pact. If anyone on this board wins the lottery they should share. They should give some to me. It's a karma thing.

Well...no HalloweenCandy at work yet...

...but they do have the Pumpkin Spice beer.

Somehow it seems they have Apple Cider year round...but when I got theirs it tasted like the plastic container...yuck! I need to find some made locally I guess. Or get it at Wal-mart.

You ought to be able to find plenty of local cider in Virginia. The Shenandoah Valley is an apple-growing center. In fact, Mary Baldwin gives their students a "surprise" day off each October, called Apple Day. It is a tradition that started during WWII, I think, when the students literally did pick apples on the local farms, since most of the young men were at war.

I used to be able to buy sacks of apples by the roadside in the fall. I made some terrific pies in those days.

I have this weekend off (which is a rare treat considering I'm working at a store lol) so I may check the local Farmer's market to either see if they have cider, or know where I can get some.
The Pepperidge Farm guy came today though and brought in some new Pumpkin Spice Milano cookies. I took a package home with me. I hope they're good. I really like the soft pumpkin pie-like cookies they get. He said they're making them right now and he gets a certain amount for the fall, but they are limited edition.
Fall always has the best treats in my opinion.

Oh, absolutely the best treats. But then, fall is harvest season. I think that's why so many people, maybe most people, like it above all other seasons. It is atavistic.

I believe August 1 was Lammas, the first of the various harvests which were recognized in olden times. I think it was the wheat harvest and was celebrated with a loaf of bread. Somehow "Loaf Mass" got contracted to Lammas.

So we are already getting into harvest season!

Walgreens is starting to put out their Halloween candy. Scored a bag of Reese's peanut butter pumpkins. I am a happy scarecrow. :)
We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

What brand of beer tantraman? I've seen at least 3 different brands of fall related brews.
There's Blue Moon Pumpkin Ale, Samuel Adam's Octoberfest and Shocktop has their pumpkin brew out. (I think it's called Pumpkin Wheat but I'm not sure. I'm not finding it on here, but I think they replaced the usual orange guy on the logo with a side ways jack o lantern. I might have to snag a picture at the store.)

I'm not a beer person, and I've tried some Pumpkin Spice beer once. I didn't really care for it. lol. It's really an acquired taste. I think I'll stick to my coffee. It tasted too beer-like and not enough Pumpkin Spice like.

I think the logos are cool though. I wish I could find a bottle of Superstition Wine. It's got a black cat on it and broken mirror in the background. The wine itself is a dark purple color. That's Halloween enough for me. lol.
