Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
1.) Autumn. Duh! Particularly the first half though, starting about the middle of September and ending as Halloween ends. The Halloween season is definitely the highlight of autumn, but combining that with the start of football again, the color changes of the leaves, and the weather cooling off from the heat of summer just makes for a magical time of year for me. Love it.
2.) Summer. Just a relaxing time of year with quite a few fun activities. I enjoy the pool, popping fireworks on the 4th, playing golf, cooking on the grill, and my family and I try to take a little vacation if we are able. Not to mention, when summer hits I really start to feel like we are getting close to the Halloween season. Fun time of year, with the anticipation of Halloween coming soon makes summer my second favorite.
3.) Winter. It's really a toss up between winter and spring for my third favorite season but I put winter at three just for the fact of Christmas. I know a few Halloween lovers don't like Christmas, but I enjoy it. Usually though, when the new year rolls around I'm ready for winter to be over.
4.) Spring. My favorite thing about spring is the fact that the winter chill will soon fade away. Also, Easter is in the spring and it's a significant holiday for me.
How about you?!

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
This is a tough one, because I love all the seasons in their turn. Autumn is definitely my favorite, though. Christmas is my favorite holiday, but winter is not so great after the holidays are over. I always hope to see a little snow, but we don't always get it. OTOH, when I have lived in places that always got snow, I learned that I get really tired of it as the winter drags on. Spring is very welcome when it shows up, usually around the end of February in middle TN. However, spring often brings tornadoes, which I don't like. Then there is summer, which I enjoy for all the iconic reasons. However, summer gets brutal in the South. The heat is so enervating! So I can get really tired of it, too.
I guess, for the seasons, I would pick fall, summer, spring, winter. But for the holidays I would pick Christmas, Halloween, Easter, July 4th.

I'm with you exactly about winter and spring. A little snow is ok, but once the holidays are over, I'm ready for some warmer weather. January and February can be really cold, so spring is definitely welcome, but I live tornado alley so once spring hits, I'm ready for summer!Murfreesboro wrote:This is a tough one, because I love all the seasons in their turn. Hmmm... here where the temps average lower to mid 70s all year long the 4 seasons are spring, spring, spring, and spring. I think I like spring the best.

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
I love all the seasons, each one having it's own charm and beauty to it. But if I should rank them from most to least favorite...this is how I'd rank them...
1. Fall of course, and not just because of Halloween. To me it's a special season where I celebrate my anniversary of my first date with my boyfriend. It's a beautiful season where the leaves turn beautiful colors, and it's not too cold or too hot outside. Halloween is actually my favorite holiday because it was during that time of year when I had my first date with my boyfriend. So it's a magical time of year for many reasons.
2. Spring and Summer are a bit of a toss up for me, so I think they tie for number 2. Spring is often still fighting off old man winter, and with flowers blooming it gets my allergies acting up, while summer it's just really hot. But I enjoy both seasons, since summer time is the time of year to grill outside, do outdoor stuff, go to festivals, while Spring time is beautiful where everything comes back to life after the winter season. Despite my allergies, the blossoms are very pretty to look at and it seems so delightful seeing the birds return after winter. Sometimes it's hard for me to really tell when Spring ends and Summer begins, because the leaves grow back so fast it's almost like they just magically appear on the branches over night. Summer time also includes my birthday. Spring time is also the time when the zoo opens back up, and one of our favorite passtimes is to walk around the zoo and visit all the cool animals there. My favorite animals of course are the wild cats, and we met some pretty cool people there.
3. Winter. It's cold and dreadful, the snow makes it difficult to go anywhere, you have to warm up your car and it's such a bother. Anything that can possibly go wrong with your car, or your house such as the pipes freezing or the electric going out would happen in the winter. But, I don't hate winter either as much as I dread it. There's a certain charm to winter. The snow looking at it from inside reminds me of powdered sugar being sprinkled on tree tops, it's a good time to bake, and it's fun to do things like build snowmen, go sledding and such. Not to mention, winter is the season that has Christmas, which is my second favorite holiday next to Halloween. It's a time of year when people are friendier and more giving and charitable. The only trouble is that after Christmas, everyone has to get through the harsh cold weather until Spring gets here. One nice thing about where I live is that it doesn't seem to snow as much, but New York's winters can be pretty bad. However, since we live in the mountains, it still gets pretty cold this time of year, so that isn't much different than the weather up north. But my family has already had it rough with the snow.

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
Halloween will allways be my favorite holiday, but Fall is not necessarily my favorite season.
Summer is my favorite season, because there's so much more to do, outdoor activities, 4th of July fireworks, my Birthday, and I get off every Friday from work.
Fall is my 2nd favorite season because of Halloween and Thanksgiving. It's sort of an exciting time for me and there is still a lot of good weather.
Spring is number 3 in my book, because it often starts out slow and cold. Very often, we don't see very much warm weather until mid May. March and April can actualy be more like Winter at times, but there have been so me pretty nice Spring days. The good news is that Summer is up next.
Winter is my absolute least favorite......actualy I HATE Winter with a passion. Cold, snow, BORING, and depressing. January and February are the two absolute worst months of the year for me. I actualy mark off the days on the calender during January and February. March isn't much better, but at least there's St. Patrick's Day, and Spring does officialy begin.

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
I think Spring here would be my favorite season. Although I love Halloween, I think Fall would come in second, then winter, then summer (I live in Arizona, self explanatory)
Spring always seems like a new beginning to me, Fall means family, friends, and parties.
In order of holidays, it would be Christmas, then Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then Easter. Easter has just never been one of my favorites for some reason

Man, I'm with you when it comes to January and February. I posted in another thread that this time of year just seems dead for the exact reasons you mentioned. February is a little better than January, because in February I feel like spring and warmer weather are somewhat close. January makes it feel like it's still far away.

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
I guess a lot of people hate winter. ^^; I can't blame them. The winter weather is so dreadful, it got to be below zero the other day. (I live in the mountains of Virginia, so the weather actually isn't much different than New York was, just less snow.)
If I was more into things like skiing, snow boarding, snowmobiling, ice skating and ice fishing and such it might not be as bad. I do think snow is pretty, I just can't stand the cold and how blizzards can cause accidents and make things a living heck just to try and get to work. I enjoyed it more as a kid, winter meant snow days and getting out of school, building snow men, sledding and snow angels and such. I actually enjoyed all the seasons. But as an adult, it's a real nuisance. I still try to appreciate each season though, besides even though I'm wishing it would warm up, I don't want to wish my life away either.
I'm trying to do things to break up the "winter doldrums" if you will, and I do agree that January is a bland month, although I do enjoy February because of Valentine's day. I made a thread about that elsewhere on the forum: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=9941 maybe as a forum we can all come up with ideas to make January less of a bland month. (Maybe we can create our own creepy holiday to celebrate during this month to hold us over until Halloween, or to make things more interesting. XD)
I remember watching a cartoon online once where the guy made up a random holiday called "Ghostmas."

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
Yes, Vrb, January is like a whole month of Mondays, and February isn't much better. The good news about Feb is it's only 28 days long, or 29 days in leap years.
Johnsoneliza, my order of favorite holidays are as follows. 1. Halloween. 2. 4th of July. 3rd Easter. 4th. Christmas. I am often accused of being a 'Bah Humbug," all though I do celebrate it. Christmas use to be my fav when I was a kid, but it slipped into last place when I grew up. If I had kids of my own, then it might be a different story.
MauEvig, I can appreciate the beauty of snow during December, but I have to commute 38 miles to work every morning then 38 miles back home every afternoon. I also live in a small town, and we're prone to more power failures then usual, so I worry about my pipes freezing up, especialy with that polar vortex which came through last weekend. Luckily we didn't have a power outage this time, but there have been other times when it was around 3 to 5 below zero and the power went out for 12 hours. I had to keep a fire burning in my fireplace, and the burners on my kitchen stove burning in order to keep the house above freezing. The livingroom was nice and warm, as was my kitchen, but the rest of the house hovered around 60 degrees.

Re: Rank your favorite to least favorite seasons and why!
I completely understand where you're coming from. At one of my previous jobs it was a 45 minute commute. Sometimes, it would be all snowy in one area and not even a single snowflake in the other. I live just outside of a small town and in a small county, and all we have to heat with is the oven and our heaters, both of which are electric. So if the power goes out, we're out of luck. I'm just trying to make the most of winter, because even though I enjoy Halloween and all, and prefer the warmer weather I don't want to rush my life away. We barely had any snow this year though, although when I first moved down here we had some snow.Pumpkin_Man wrote:Yes, Vrb, January is like a whole month of Mondays, and February isn't much better. I agree with you about rushing through my life. I do have some Winter projects going around the house and with my stereo. Additionaly I am going to have a couple of buddies of mine over for dinner on the 26th of January. Weather permitting I am actualy going to fire up the barbecue, and if not, then I'll barbecue my briskit in the crock pot.
At any rate, the best way for me to deal with Winter doldrums is to make some fun projects for myself. Around February, I start planning on what fireworks to buy for the 4th of July. I also will be very much into Lent and Easter, and this past weekend, most of the snow that was on the ground has melted. I can't predict what the weather is going to be like in the next 6 or 8 weeks, but I am hopefull we don't ever see another polar vortex again.
