Halloween Postcards

Post by jadewik » Mon May 20, 2013 7:48 pm

I was doing some research for my blog-- looking for public domain images-- and I came across these old Halloween post cards:

Jadewick, you just gave me a great idea. This October, instead of sending out store-bought Halloween greeting cards, I am going to print out post card sized prints of my Bartonville Insane Asylum photos and send those out instead. I might even do a little photo shop work on them to make them more Halloweenish, and then send them to everyone I send greeting cards to.

Thanks for the compliment, Jadewik, but it was realy your idea. I just thought of a way I can exploit it, and this is a real gem. I am also revisiting the Bartonville Insane Asylum tomorrow afternoon. I'm booked for a tour of the inside of the building itself, and the cemetery.

Great find.

The first one is the creme of the crop, in my opinion. Something about it so amicably haunting.

I love vintage post cards. I keep thinking I'll start collecting them one day, but haven't started to yet. Wonderful post, thank you for sharing.
We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.
