That's a good idea. I didn't think to check the Walmart stores in Morris and Pontiac, but I bet there are Halloween items on display in those places.

Perhaps I'll take a little 'detour' on my way home tonight.

I think I may need to plan a trip to Cracker Barrel this weekend. Did the Wal-Mart just have clothes, or did they have any other Halloween up yet?

Wal-Marts and Targets around my neck of the woods are inundated with back to school items, as murfreesboro mentioned, until generally September 1st. I don't even bother checking there until then.

Michael's, on the other hand, always seems to have their full stock displayed by August 1st here.

Demonic Duck, I love the picture of the once vacant storefront. It looks nostalgically retro and charmingly creepy. It looks like an establishment that would pop up in a Halloween themed movie from the 80's.

My area generally sees a few seasonal Halloween stores open their doors, but fortunately, many of the abandoned businesses here have found tenants over the last few years, so it may be hard for them to find the space...I sure hope they find somewhere to open up shop!

Yea one of our favorite spots finally found a tenant so my wife and I were bummed. Though there seems to be plenty of empty stores still so I'm sure everyone will find a spot.

Also I went to the mall(Palisades in Nyack, NY) the other day and a few stores in there had Halloween stuff. Yankee Candle has a limited edition black Halloween candle(with optional black cat cover) and some other Halloween themed candles. Kirkland also has some stuff(you can see it on their website). Also surprisingly enough I went into an Asian themed store that has way more space than it needs and in the back there was Halloween stuff. A few skulls and stuff and some kids costumes.

There are a lot of 'back to school' tv comercials on, too. But Halloween is slowly but surely making it's way into the stores in my neck of the woods. I didn't get a chance to stop at Walmart yesterday because I ended up with an emergency photo shoot, but I do have all weekend, and since I still can't ride the Harley, I might as well go on a Halloween hunt and maybe even buy a couple of little items for the 'big day,' to prepare myself.

Oh also while in Stop & Shop I saw my least favorite fall/Halloween item. Candy corn YUCK. Seems every year I try it and am like "Why did I do that it's disgusting." But as other people may like it you may want to keep an eye out for it.

Comercials aside he's right every year I somehow forget how gross and think "Candy corn great" and pop a few in my mouth and every year it is grosser than the year before. If it helps one year my wife's parents gave us blueberry candy corn from a fancy candy store. That was OK considering it was candy corn but still rather eh.

I'm a man of sophisticated taste; I love Brach's (sp?) candy corn and some of the more quality selections, but it seems like cheap, chalky, almost crunchy candy corn is ubiquitous, which ruins the fine candy's reputation!
