Oh no. Please don't let this happen! I read somewhere that Sam Raimi is also re-making Poltergeist. That also makes me sad.XxTIMOxX wrote:I'd have to go with Plan 9 from Outer Space, classically just horrible :p
Did you guys know Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell are doing a re-imagining of Evil Dead? They've already selected cast for it http://www.tgdaily.com/entertainment/62 ... -finalized

Re: WORST HORROR MOVIE EVER!!!!!!
The whole concept of re-makes is rather interesting. Obviously, people want to do it because the property is proven, but there is rarely a good reason to re-make a classic movie, IMO. Back when they were re-making silent movies for talkies, that made sense. I love the 1959 Ben-Hur and am glad they decided to re-make the silent version. But a new Ben-Hur would be superfluous (and way too expensive, I think, not to mention less impressive--today they would no doubt computer-generate much of the chariot race, which many consider to be the greatest action sequence ever filmed).
In the '50s they re-made several swashbucklers from the '30s, in part because they were doing them in color, but also because they were afraid of the new medium of TV, and wanted to try to give audiences some epic theatrical experience they couldn't get in their living rooms. I suppose there have been some technological advances since Poltergeist was made in the '80s, but IMO, not the kind that the casual movie-goer would be likely to notice. Not like the difference between color & black-&-white, or silent vs. sound.
I am uncertain why there is talk of re-making the Spiderman franchise. Didn't the first trilogy appear shortly after 9-11? That's not so long ago. Are they going to tell a different story?
I didn't see the re-made Psycho, but from what I read, it was a frame-for-frame re-make of the original. What's the point of that?

I think the concept of Blair Witch is good, and I do think there are some scary scenes in it, especially the ending. I like that they never try to show the witch. I just don't like all the profanity. A little of it is OK, too much turns me off.

I vote for Quarantine. Ugh. The stupid girl trapped in the darkness with the thing screaming and saying "It's gonna kill me" or something to that effect. I actually said out loud in the theater "Then shut up!" and everyone laughed. It was that bad.
That and Flight of the Living Dead. I'm a bit of a zombie fanatic so I watched it for kicks. I kept waiting for Samuel L. Jackson to pop out and say "I'm tired of these Mother @#$% zombies on the mother @#$% plane!"

I am pretty sure you mean Manos: The Hands of Fate. Mystery Science Theater 3000 did an episode featuring this movie and it is one of the best. Agreed, terrible movie though.

Psycho remake was one of the horrible horror remakes ever!
Also bad horrors are House of the Dead, Island of the Dead, Return of Living Dead 4 and 5, Shark Swarm, and many others.

Re: WORST HORROR MOVIE EVER!!!!!!
Tomb of the Werewolf is easily one of the worst movies I've seen. And are there any good killer scarecrow movies out there? Cause every one I've ever seen has been dreck. Occasionally amusing dreck, but still dreck.
I didn't care for Blair Witch either. Part of my problem was I didn't care for any of the characters. I found them unlikable and not very bright. Come on, follow the river, it will lead you some place. I understand they were trying to show "every day" people in a tense situation, but the effect on me was that I didn't care what happened. And part of what is effective in horror, IMO, is that you care what happens to the characters.

We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.

Know what? I got into a contest a while back with a buddy to see who could find the worst horror movie ever. This movie was his selection! However, he got the Mystery Science Theater version so it wasn't nearly as awful as my selection, Dark Harvest 2. I won that contest handilyMorticia wrote:Hands of Manos.

Rifftrax, which is a few of the guys from MST3K are doing Manos:The Hands of Fate live in August. I have seen several of their live shows and they are really funny.Pumpkin56 wrote:Know what? For me, Mr Jingles. There's seriously a scene where cops are shooting the killer and they just sound like empty cap guns. And the killer acts like a kid trying to act like he's dying. Come to think of it that movie's at a store near my house. I think I'll buy it to amuse myself.

Bruiser - I just seen it last week or so and there was a racism guy but George Romero always uses a racist character in his film. Bad movie though.
