Re: Whatcha eatin' right now?
My younger sister makes the best Deviled Eggs I ever ate. The recipe was my moms.
With 24 eggs, I bet you'll be eating Deviled Eggs and Egg Salad until Christmas.

HI MURPH,HOPE YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAD A NICE EASTER,MY PARENTS ARE CHURCH GOERS TOO,I DON"T SEE MUCH OFF THEM, THEY SPEND ALOT OF TIME AT THE CHURCH AT EASTER TOO,MUM BUYS EASTER EGGS FOR THE KIDS THAT GO,THINK THERE"S ABOUT A DOZEN KIDS THAT GO,I MAKE THE ODD APPEREANCE MYSELF WHEN DAD IS NOT FIT TO GO HE DOES"NT KEEP WELL,MUM NEVER MISSES HER SUNDAY APPEARENCE,Murfreesboro wrote:LOL! I think we actually did lose one.
I have a large, woodsy backyard (double lot), and have raised three kids here. Only two are still at home, and the youngest is nearly 15. Still, we did the egg hunt on Sunday afternoon, just like always. They really get into hiding them for me after I have hidden them for the kids! They can be fiendish.
I was feeling wistful about it this year. I was thinking about how they used to be scrambling over the yard, the three of them when they were little, and about our dog, who used to be able to find the ones we would lose. She would bring them to us unharmed in her mouth. She would have made a superb hunting dog. Now she is buried in that backyard. Funny to feel as if an Easter egg hunt is haunted, but for me, it kind of was.
For lunch today, I'm heating up leftover ham, leftover green beans, leftover baked beans. I am also baking a potato. Tomorrow I think I'm going to make a crock pot soup off that ham bone. (We always have a ham for Easter. I guess lamb is more traditional, but in the South, you don't see much lamb.)
We spend so much time around church on Easter weekend that I don't have much time to cook. We always have a big Easter breakfast at church, and this year, our family helped to serve it. For lunch back home I was baking the ham and some potatoes. I made a green bean casserole after I got home. That is the easiest casserole to throw together--3 cans of green beans, a can of mushroom soup, 3/4 cup of milk, and a small can of fried onions on top. Thirty minutes in the oven and it's done.

I'm eating chips with Safeway Select Garlic Lover's Salsa. Proof that I'm not a vampire. Chasing it down with a throwback Pepsi (made with REAL sugar).

Zoltan, my husband and I both sing in the choir, and he also teaches 5th/6th grade Sunday school, so the various services associated with Holy Week & Easter weekend are command performances for us. The Easter breakfast is a fundraiser for the youth, and two of ours are in the youth group, so, yeah, we are involved with that, too. I have come to enjoy all the church-centered Easter services, though. They are very dramatic.

I'll be attending a church breakfast this Sunday.
Speaking of Easter Eggs, I remember one time, when I was a kid and the "Easter Bunny" hid all the egs, there was one egg that we never found, and then when my dad was digging out some of the Christmas decorations we found the missing Easter Egg.

Well, our choir is active only during the school year--we take the summer off. And I am generally ready to get a break from it!
