I just made a crock pot soup, split pea & ham bone, in the crock pot. It will cook all day and be ready around 6:30 tonight for supper. It's the last of my Easter ham.

Hey, Nevermore, thanks for the link! I watched The Halloween Tree this morning, then couldn't find this thread again for the longest time. I wanted to say--the film is enjoyable, but the music kept reminding me of Harry Potter. So I looked up who wrote it. A guy named Debney wrote The Halloween Tree music in '93, but John Williams is credited with the main Harry Potter theme a few years later. Sure sounds close to me. Things that make you go hmmm. . . .

See... now you got me curious. Found this on a website about John Debney...

Among the composers who he most admires are Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Alfred Newman, and Max Steiner from the Golden Age, as well as Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams (who he claims has had the most profound effect upon him).

Showoff!

I still think it feels very Star Treky using one of those things. I've actually been reading the Hunger Games on mine before falling asleep. Got about a hundred pages left in the last book. I sometimes use it to control my main computer using Splashtop. It messes with people's minds when I'm in public and they see a Windows 7 interface on an iPad. I still prefer the feel of my full-size desktop computer though. I miss my multiple screens, but maybe someday I'll get around to building my new desk. I can't believe it's gonna be a year, on the 19th, since that little sewage flood wiped out my house.

So we know Debney is aware of John Williams. The question is, Is Williams aware of Debney?

Hmmm... shouldn't be that tough to get your music on to the device. That's definitely what I most like about the iDevices, it's sync with iTunes.

I'm sure you got a cable with it, and assume you use a Windows machine? I found this...

How do I transfer music, video, photos, and other media files from my computer to the Galaxy Tab 10.1?
Music, video, photos, and other media files can be transferred to the tablet via the 30-pin USB data cable included with the tablet. Connect the cable to the tablet and to a USB port on your computer.
  • On a Microsoft® Windows computer, open Windows Explorer and drag and drop files from the computer onto the tablet's drive icon.

Please note that the included USB data cable can only be used to transfer data between the tablet and a computer. For any other device with a USB port, such as digital camera, you will need an optional USB adapter/ connection kit.

As for networking to your device, you can't do that, unless you jailbreak it I'm guessing. I found that you can sync music to an Android device using Winamp though. Both your PC and your device will have to be on the same network for this to work.

If you can wait, they should be releasing Droptunes for iOS and Android soon. This allows you to play music stored in your Dropbox account. You simply copy some music to the Dropbox folder on your PC and it's available to listen to on your device anywhere you have a WiFi or other data connection.

Both Winamp and Droptunes are streaming solutions so there's bound to be some lag if you don't have a fast connection.

Edit: Nah nah! :P Droptunes is now available for iOS.

yeah, it transfers all your music to the Tab, which i dont want to do as that takes up an <deleted>-load of disc space...
