Re: Whatcha eatin' right now?
brunswick stew and twix....
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Yep, I had a hard-boiled egg for breakfast. We have a lot of those around right now.

Next year just puncture the egg and blow the yokes out before you decorate. Saves you from having to eat hard boiled eggs for daysMurfreesboro wrote:Yep, I had a hard-boiled egg for breakfast. We have a lot of those around right now.
I haven't decorated eggs in quite some time. I learned how to make Ukrainian Easter eggs but unfortunately I can never remember to buy the tools to make them again. If you have the time, they're way more fun...

I just did 3 Easter Eggs this year, and made egg salad sanwiches for my lunches for yesterday and today.

24 eggs?! My goodness. I bet you were hoping that some of those would NOT be found during the egg hunt

Re: Whatcha eatin' right now?
LOL! I think we actually did lose one.
I have a large, woodsy backyard (double lot), and have raised three kids here. Only two are still at home, and the youngest is nearly 15. Still, we did the egg hunt on Sunday afternoon, just like always. They really get into hiding them for me after I have hidden them for the kids! They can be fiendish.
I was feeling wistful about it this year. I was thinking about how they used to be scrambling over the yard, the three of them when they were little, and about our dog, who used to be able to find the ones we would lose. She would bring them to us unharmed in her mouth. She would have made a superb hunting dog. Now she is buried in that backyard. Funny to feel as if an Easter egg hunt is haunted, but for me, it kind of was.
For lunch today, I'm heating up leftover ham, leftover green beans, leftover baked beans. I am also baking a potato. Tomorrow I think I'm going to make a crock pot soup off that ham bone. (We always have a ham for Easter. I guess lamb is more traditional, but in the South, you don't see much lamb.)
We spend so much time around church on Easter weekend that I don't have much time to cook. We always have a big Easter breakfast at church, and this year, our family helped to serve it. For lunch back home I was baking the ham and some potatoes. I made a green bean casserole after I got home. That is the easiest casserole to throw together--3 cans of green beans, a can of mushroom soup, 3/4 cup of milk, and a small can of fried onions on top. Thirty minutes in the oven and it's done.
