Well it'll be in the 70's here today, so regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil decided, spring has already arrived.Murfreesboro wrote:Yes, the first month of the "New Year" is already history. Wow.
BTW, today is Groundhog Day, which means we are officially half-way through winter.

My husband saw a flock of geese flying north on Sat, Jan. 28. The quince has bloomed here, and the dogwood is just about to pop. I also saw pussy willow in "bloom" a couple of days ago.

To be honest, things never really died here. Some of the trees lost their leaves, but most of them are still green and full. This has been the mildest winter I have ever lived through. We do typically get a pretty rough winter storm in January or February so I guess there is a possibility that winter may still show itself in the coming weeks.

Well, at any rate, Feb, though a grind, is the shortest month of the year, even with the extra day for Leap Year, and March is when things start to look up for me personaly.
I am having my St. Pat's party on Saturday the 17th, and that's going to be a blast.
OF course, I will be looking into various preperations for Halloween, including the pobbisliity of a 'haunted roas trip' or two.

Yep. Pretty soon I'll be looking at places to take 'haunted road trips' on my motorcycle to.

All the plants around here thought it was spring, but now we are having a cold snap. It is predicted to get down to 16 degrees this weekend. So much for the tender buds on the early shrubs and trees.

It was in the teens last night and the night before. Last night I decided to walk to the mail box to mail out my bills instead of driving there. My ears felt like they were going to break off they were so cold.

The temperature has taken a nose-dive around here too and I HATE it!! It was in the 30's this morning and I had to scrape ice off my windshield. Not a big deal to people who are used to winter, but I'm really more of a warm-weather creature. I always say that extreme heat just makes me cuss because I don't want to move, whereas extreme cold makes me want to cry because I can't move.

I actually listened to HalloweenRadio.net last nite as I fell to sleep. It must be getting closer.

Re: 2012 HALLOWEEN COUNT DOWN!!!
The winters in my neck of the woods are usually pretty mild. We are good for at least one major winter blast though--anywhere from mid-January to late February or early March. So needless to say, I'm not putting away my heavy down comforter just yet. I'm somewhat jealous of Morticia and Nevermore.
