Re: 2012 HALLOWEEN COUNT DOWN!!!
Mike, you know Christmas in July is ridiculous! I do love summer time! Swimming at the beach, in the pool, cookout, relax outside during night... Also, I do love Friday The 13th aka Little Halloween! But, in my mind I always think of Halloween is just like everyday!

I heard Nicole Kidman talking about Christmas on TV a few years back, and she said she always goes to the beach. That's what they do in Australia. She laughed about it, but she said that to her it was normal.

Xmas is in the summer down under so I guess going to the beach is a valid option. Pretty much the same in SoCal. At least it's cool enough here that we can always go to the mountains to spend some time in the snow. We actually have an ice skating rink here that's at the beach. You can go ice skating in your bathing suit then run across the sand and jump in the ocean to cool off.

Ice skating at the beach! Now that's something you don't see every day!

Re: 2012 HALLOWEEN COUNT DOWN!!!
iHaunt, I agree with you. Christmas in July is rediculous, but a lot of people do have "Charistmas in July" or "CHristmas in June" parties. Some retailers also have "Christmas in June or July" sales, too. My point is that in Austrailia, and in every other country south of the Equator, their seasons are oposite to ours. When it's Summer here in the Northern Hamisphere, it's Winter in the Southern Hamisphere and vice versa. Christmas in the Northern Hemisphere is a Winter holiday, and is celebrated as such. In Austrailia, Christmas comes in the heat of Summer. While we build snow men, sing songs like "Jingle Bells" and "Winter Wonderland," the Austrailians have barbecues, go to the beach and celebrate Christmas very simularly to the way we celebrate the 4th of July, only with Christmas Trees, Santa Clause, Manger scenes and lights insteaf of fire works.
It's the same thing with Halloween. The Austrailians are very much into Trick or Treat, putting on costumes and celebrating the holiday, but it's Spring, not fall.

Mike, maybe Christmas in July should be in South America Because South America has cold weather and snow everywhere there during summer. Right now, in South America is warm and hot!

Re: 2012 HALLOWEEN COUNT DOWN!!!
The only thing with that, iHaunt, is that people generaly are use to their own traditions. Some one who lived all of his life in South America or Austrailia, or any place else in the Southern Hamisphere, would be very much use to Christmas as a Summer time holiday. The Austrailians, in particular, associate the celebration of Christmas with beach parties, motorcycling, barbecues, swimming or pool parties and the whole 9 years, in addition to the gift giving. Sure, they probably do have some of the old " Winter " traditions that were brought over there from 'the old country,' but people are use to what they are use to. It's the same deal with Easter and Halloween. The Agrentinians and the Austrailians could not even picture Halloween as a Fall holiday. Halloween is a Spring time holiday. Easter is associated with Fall.
The nice thing about the Austrailians is that like us, they also have Summer Vacation, so they can actualy enjoy Christmas without having to go back to school.
Now because you and I live up here in the Northern Hemisphere, it's hard for us to picture that. I allways celebrated Christmas as a Winter holiday, so that's t he tradition that I knew and loved all my life. I couldn't imagine celebrating Christmas by going to the beach and having a back yard barbecue. I love to do those things, but it does not jive with Christmas. Sure, I am going to grill up a Rib Eye in my fireplace this Saturday, but traditionaly fo rme, Christmas is a Winter holiday. Halloween is a Fall holiday, and Easter is a Spring holiday.
It's all about point of reference. I'm sure the Austrailians and Argentinians would not want it any other way. I wouldn't want it any other way from what I'm use to, either.

Yes, the first month of the "New Year" is already history. Wow.
BTW, today is Groundhog Day, which means we are officially half-way through winter.
