They say that life's a carousel
Spinning fast, you've got to ride it well
The world is full of kings and queens
Who blind your eyes and steal your dreams
Its heaven and hell, oh well
I am Vengeance...I am the Night!
I swear to God...[Batman]SWEAR to Me!!

Re: Vampires
Well, performance-wise, I'm going with Willem Dafoe. I'm not really a Brad Pitt fan--I liked Interview with the Vampire, but I thought Tom Cruise carried it better than Pitt (and I'm not particularly a Cruise fan either).

Are we now discussing which vampire got our pulse racing? This one did it for me...

Re: Vampires
Oldman is great in that movie.
Barnabas may always be my favorite vampire, perhaps because he was my first.
I never saw Gerard Butler in that movie, didn't even know he'd played a vampire. I did see Interview with a Vampire at some point, but for some reason, that story never grabbed me. I did like one of Ann Rice's witch novels, The Witching Hour. Neither Cruise nor Pitt is a huge favorite of mine.
I saw Frank Langella's Dracula and thought he was good enough, but it doesn't stand out in my memory as a great version. Above all, I like the Oldman/Ryder Dracula.
Does any of you remember when Dracula was a huge stage hit on Broadway, back in the '70s, with sets designed by the late, great macabre cartoonist, Edward Gorey? I never saw it, but my husband (before we met) saw it on the road in Chicago. The Dracula he saw was Jeremy Brett, who later gained fame as Sherlock Holmes on PBS. My husband has never ceased to rave about Brett's performance in that show. If you have ever seen his Sherlock Holmes, you know the man had a true sense of style and theater. I know he must have been great. And he had the tall, slender, dark good looks that fit the iconic view of that character. My husband said he was both menacing and seductive on stage.

Re: Vampires
I think it'd be cool if they made a modern vampire but not all sparkly and have lame powers. Also the vampires from 30 days of Night reminded me of zombies :/

Yes, I wasn't a big fan of those vampires either. The film was ok, but not great!ofwgdgaf wrote:I think it'd be cool if they made a modern vampire but not all sparkly and have lame powers. Also the vampires from 30 days of Night reminded me of zombies :/

It's not our fault, they pulled a mind scramble on us. They opened their eyes and talked.

I think it's time for all of us to crawl back into our coffins or crypts. I can already feel myself going dormant again...
