We've just broken the record for the hottest day ever recorded in October over here in England.

We have warmth in the forecast, but hopefully for only a few days. I love the cold snap we've been having.

It's been very strange. We never really had a summer. We had some hot days back in spring. Now we're currently having an "Indian Summer."

It's supposed to get back to normal on Tues/Weds.

Which will be good as i'm missing the usual October chill & the crisp autumnal mornings!

... what I'm wondering is what is considered "record breaking" heat? 30*C (86*F)?

We average around 40*C (104*F) in the summers here in the Sonoran Desert... Back in 2007, I was in Europe. I had to wear 3 jackets to stay warm!

What is the mean temp where you live though? You are used to hot I bet...and dry heat mostly. In WI, we get so many temperature swings...up and down. In the Summer we had month or so of temps close to 100 degrees but it was also humid which made the heat index over 110 degrees and feels like a sauna and your clothes stick to your wet skin...

In the winter we get below 0 all the time and add the wind chill to that and you get -20 or -30 degrees...it can be so drastic sometimes...

Here in NYC, it's finally feeling like fall!!! Leaves are starting to cover sidewalks and the temperature is brisk. Today's high: 59!

Well here in Big D the high will be 87. Probably won't reach that until late afternoon though. Right now it's 68 and earlier there was a bit of a morning chill. I wish it was cooler, but I suppose I should just be happy that I'm not burning up.

I want a thunder storm down here! We're in the middle of a giant drought though. A pond across the street from my office is completely dried up. The ducks and egrets seem somewhat confused as to what's going on

It was 29.5*C I believe. Which for an October day in England that's hot!

It's been a bit cooler today though, & it will get back to our normal October days throughout the rest of the week. Can't wait for the October Chill & misty autumnal mornings with all the leaves over the ground! I love the crisp air of October!
