What category would you put Freddy in?

Post by Pumpkin56 » Wed Sep 28, 2011 2:22 pm

I was just thinking about this. I know Freddy is a nightmare monster BUT he can get you when you're awake. He's pretty much a re-animated corpse BUT he can do things that ghosts to and he doesn't eat people (that I recall). So, what category do you throw him into?

I call them the Slasher/Monsters...

Freddy, Jason, Michael myers, Leatherface, Scream are all sort of that same character...although Freddy talks and has a wicked sense of humor...he still kills and fits that same bill.

But all of those other guys are human (even though they can never be killed). Would you maybe put in him in the same category as Pinhead from Hellraiser? They're both kind of supernatural killers.

Yes, they kind of fit together...

Good question! Traditionally, probably grouped as the slasher genre, but I will think more on it!

So I guess Freddy and Pinhead party alone together in the corner until we can figure out who else should be thrown in there....

I'd put him in the Proactiv spokes-model category, along with the Phantom of the Opera and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I'd say Slasher because it's defined by the films(Basically blood and gore)

I think I'm just going to call him a murdering ghost--like the Headless Horseman :)
