Halloween greeting cards

Does anyone ever send out Halloween greeting cards (kinda like Christmas cards)? Pumpkinrot has some cool ones and so does Pumpkincult. I think that I'm going to send out cards this year just to get Halloween on the brain for everyone

Not bunches of them. I sometimes send out one or two to special people.

I buy greeting cards every year... and then end up running out of time before I send them out. So, I have quite the collection of Halloween Cards. Haha.

I like to send them out in lieu of holiday cards-- firstly, because Halloween does kick-start the whole "Holiday Season"... and secondly, because Halloween cards are vastly more exciting to get than Christmas Cards. (Plus, I usually send out a winter newsletter anyway...)

I usually don't, but I've gotten into stamping this year so I'm swimming in greeting cards. My grim reaper victim will be getting one!

I found a beautiful Papyrus card at Target that I bought just to frame. It has a girl in a pink candy corn skirt walking her black cat. And it's covered in glitter. So it was pretty much made for me!

No I don't actually. I have seen some about, i've just never thought about picking some up.

I was in one of the supermarkets in my area the other day, they're the first one's to get their Halloween stock out. Anyway they are selling Halloween Crackers. They're just like Christmas Crackers only for Halloween. I've never seen that before.

CRACKERS?! I wouldn't even know what those would look like. Are they in the shape of Halloween things?

No, they're just like normal Christmas Crackers, only they've got Halloween pictures, colours & designs on them.

I've bought Christmas crackers a few times. They are not traditional over here, of course. I put some into my kids' stockings for a few years there. They were a novelty for us. I kinda got over them, though. A riddle, a paper crown, and a trinket.

When I was a child, my father used to bring me home something called a "surprise ball" when he would return from business trips. I haven't seen those in ages. They were bright, tightly wrapped crepe paper or tissue paper, and when you unwrapped them, they would be filled with cheap novelty trinkets. When I was a pre-schooler, I loved those. They didn't "crack," though.

I think it's just that Christmas crackers are so traditional, I gather pretty much universal, overseas, but in the US they are not that well known. I was in my 30s before I had ever even heard of them, and then I saw some for sale at a gift shop in Virginia, where I used to live. It is safe to say that Virginia is much more attuned to England and all things English than most of our states are. It goes back to their colonial history, I believe, and the fact that they always fancied themselves first or second cousins to English aristocracy.
