Salem's Lot (1979) and (2004)

I, personally do like the original the best than the remake because it is pretty scary. I like the director Tobe Hooper, and the actor David Soul. ;) I have DVD with 183 minutes plus 1 minute uncut version. All in all, one of the better vampire films I've seen. Highly recommended for purchase on DVD - you'll not get a better vampire film for your money. :?

The original series was much truer to the Stephan King horror foamula.

I like the original movie, but I didn't get a chance to watch the second part, "A Return To Salem's Lot" 1987 version, so is it any good?

The first one is good. I watch it from time to time during the season.

I really liked the original one, and I really didn't care about part two because it's really bored. :? Even, I didn't like the remake.

the original one creeped me out when I was a kid and it didnt help with my sister sneaking out side and scratching on my window at night

i prefer the original - much scarier, better horror aesthetic

the sequel just plain sucks

the remake was ok - closer to the novel

I read on other horror forum about this original Salem's Lot (1979) has 8½ skulls out of 10!
