Re: Where Is The Most Haunted Place You Have Been To???
Well, the motorcycle ride was fun, but I am a little dissappointed in the results of my weekend 'haunted road trip." I made it back to Bartonville, but I could find no sign of the Bartonville Insane Asylum cemetery anywhere around. Themosquitos were so fierce that I didn't check in any areas with thick brush. Unlike the boy scout in Murfreesboro's post I did not come "prepared" with bug repellant. I'll try it again with a little better research and some bug reppennant the next time around.
I also went to Ottawa Ill, and searched for the Wedron Insane Asylum. I drove forst to Ottowa, and then to the town of Wedron itself, but all to no avail. I am beginning to think that the Wedron institution was either an urban legend, or was torn down without a trace. Again, the mosquitos were out in force, so I didn't do too much walking around.
Armed with better research and bug repellant, I'll try it again later in the Summer. I did take a few more shots of the old Bartonville place, however.

Hi,
The most haunted place I have been to is a Mansion not far from where I live called Glynllifon Mansion, you can see photo's of it at this website :
http://www.glynllifon.com/
It looks grand and gorgeous, but looks can be deceptive, I was there doing some work for my new book with my co-writer a while back, and it was incredibly spooky. Half the Mansion is still old and un-refurbished! The things we saw in there!!!!
Best,
Kris

Gettysburg. Creepy, creepy place at night. Went the week before Halloween a couple years back. Interesting atmosphere.

Well, tomorrow I'm going to take a stab at the old abandoned Manteno Mental Health center.

Well, the Manteno institution is no longer there, and what's left of it has been converted into a Veterans Home, with very strict rules against tresspassers. I can't say I blame them.
I drove to Hobart Indiana in search of a haunted and abandoned house, unfortunately that too, turned out to be non existant, but the trip wasn't a total failure. I did mange to find an abandoned little brick building that struck me as a little creepy, but it was not an imposing structure like the Bartonville Insane Asylum. There were no stories that I know of associated with it, but I just thought it looked creepy, so as soon as I have a couple of the pics ready, I will post them to the 'haunted places' message board.
When I go on vacation, I plan to attempt to locate the Mansfield Reformatory in Ohio. SUpposedly that place is actualy opened for tourism, so I hope they will allow me to take photos. It is supposedly one of the most haunted places in Ohio.

Hope you will go to the haunted place in Ohio this summer, Mike? Love to see the pic! If not allowed then that's okay.

I hate to say it, iHaunt, but on my last 2 'haunted road trips,' I batted a perfect zero. I drove all the way to Ottawa Ill to see if I could find the Wedron Insane Asylum and there was no sign of it anywhere. I also went up to the town of Wedron itself, and still, no dice. Last Saturday I drove to Indiana, and only got that little abandoned shack that I posted in the 'haunted places' message board. The good news is that I got a good ride on my motorcycle, but I would love to have had some good creepy photos to post here.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll find another really creepy haunted place a stome point in time. Just gotta keep looking.

This is a fantastic thread! My wife and I for our anniversary stay at the Cashtown Inn at Gettysburg every year in October and do the Ghost Tours, ect... In the rooms at the Cashtown Inn they keep journals in and on the dresser for guests to document any hauntings or anything else that might have happened during your stay. So far no experience for us, but there were a bunch of entries that claimed there differently!

Ghost tours are so beautiful, and I wish to go on any ghost tours.... but hard time for sticking on my cemetery job and sleeping in the daytime.

We have done the local ghost tour here in Murfreesboro. I would love to go on the one up in Nashville but so far haven't gotten around to it. It is a brilliant way to learn local history, for one thing.
