The dark night beckons. Bear us your soul, it whispers. Expose your wicked delights. Join the rest of us on the wind. The dark night beckons and we answer. Sailing into the shadows.

My favorite part is when the old man tells them the story of the pirates.

Lucky dog. The Safeway down the street has a big cardboard display with Garfield, Scooby and some other DVD characters, but by the time I noticed it there were nothing but Scobby-Doo DVD's left! :?

That Garfield special is fairly spooky. Still not as crazy as some of those "Nine Lives of Garfield" segments.

Good news for us candy lovers out there, bad news for dentists... Japanese researchers have created a replacement enamel for teeth that should prevent cavities and tooth decay. Wahoo! Need to get me sum a dat!

Bummer... another 5 years before the treatment could be practical. Time to buy a new toothbrush.

Oh, man, I"m going to be the first one in line for this stuff.

As for kid's Halloween specials--my daughter had a couple on DVD that I thought were very cute, called Scary Godmother. There were two in the series, and it was based on a book, I think. It was about a little girl who was teased unmercifully on Halloween night, and she wandered into a truly haunted house where there were real monsters, but they all turned out to be friendly. Then they turned the tables and scared the older, mean kids who had been bullying her. A children's special, but very charming.

I love Scary Godmother. I watch it every Halloween along with the Peanuts Halloween special.
We're the farmer's scarecrows
We scare away the birds,
We keep the farmer's corn safe
Without any words.
But when Halloween comes
We jump out of the ground
And we scare the boys and girls
When they come walking 'round.
