Near my home town is the old abandoned Glenn Dale Sanitarium. Back in the 1930s and 40s, the hospital was a sanitarium for the treatment of tuberculousis. After TB was pretty much disappearing, the hospital tehn became a hospital to treat the criminally Insane. The hospital then closed in the 1970s. The hospital is listed in the Wierd Maryland Book and other sources. Unfortunately, it is off limits to everyone and is heavily guarded. Many however have sneeked in and explored this great site. The buildings are large, big and deteriating fast. Loaded with asbestos, it is dangerous to be around the stuff! Believed to be haunted with lots of long dark catacombs, hallways, rooms with old operating tables and a morgue! At one time some rooms still had hanging prostetics hanging up. Much graffiti and evidence of Demon worship and other activities. As a fireman, I have been to this facility for a building fire. But would love to explore this place if it were possible.

The Glenn Dale hospital is located in Glenn Dale, Maryland in Prince George's County Maryland. A suburb of Washington, DC! This place is well documented on the internet and thier is or was a neat Youtube on it!

If it's been closed for such a long time, why is it still guarded and off limits? Is this a Thackery Binx situation?

Its owned by Washington DC, But the facility is in Maryland. Its guarded because DC doesnt know what to do with it and the buildings are crumbling dangerous and asbestos bound. I guess it is a liability if people come visiting? But many do sneek in! That is all I know about it???

What size building is it? Do you happen to know if it's a Kirkbride or not?

Mike, Glenn Dales about 7 or 8 miles east of Washington, DC in Prince Georges County Maryland. Many try to see this place, but remember, they will lock up anyone trespassing! Thier is some youtube footage of peoples attempts!

So the cops are watching that place all the time?
