Petaluma...Haunted Victorian Town in California
Posted: Wed Sep 06, 2006 8:51 pm
Spared by the 1906 Earthquake, Petaluma has one of the largest collections of pre-1906 historic commercial buildings and homes. That is why it is one of the few towns in the U.S. with a commercial district listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Not only does Petaluma remain home to numerous ghosts and haunted sites, but it is also famous for being a "Halloween Crazy" town as well.
Each year Petaluma offers a "Cemetery Walk" through their oldest cemetery, a "Halloween House Tour" of mysterious historic houses and a Mardi Gras style "Halloween Stroll" on Victorian-era, mansion-lined historic D Street. Costumed revelers both young and old parade up and down D Street to show off their ornate costumes and go Trick-or-Treating. Adults as well as kids go up to each home and ask for candy. It's a really fun time in Petaluma!
