St Patrick's day is a MAJOR HOLIDAY at my house. I'm having all my bros and sisters over for Corned Beef & Cabbage on the Saturday after.

It's a fun movie all though a tad hokey. On the real St. Patricks Day (March 17th) I plan to listen to traditional Irish and Celtic music. On the weekend after the 17th that's when I am having my family party and cooking Chrned Beef & Cabbage.

Can't wait for corned beef and cabbage! :D

BTW, RDM... when you have time to rent that "Leprechaun" movie that you posted above, then you can try "Leprechaun 2". ;)

I liked the first Leprechaun movie. They eventually just turned him into a joke.

St. Patrick's day is big for me. I enjoy it quite a bit. I'll bust out some of my Celtic cd's and drink a beer or two. Dallas is having their big St. Patty's day parade and festival today, but it's like 40 degrees and rainy! I think I'm just gonna stay inside and hope for better weather by the 17th.

Corned Beef, Irish Potatoes, and a well-poured Guinness.

The girls will wear their green and I'll wear my W.B. Yates shirt for the day.

I have a great recipe for irish mashed potatoes (Colcannon) where you stew the cabbage and mix it in with the mash -- really good!

3 lbs Potatoes
1 small cabbage
1 cup milk
4 tbsp butter (approx)
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Boil potatoes in pot for approx. 15 minutes with lid on.
2. Strain 2/3 of the water out, replace lid, continue to steam potatoes under gentle heat until fully cooked.
3. Finely chop cabbage across grain, put in second pot of gently boiling water -- cook until soft.
4. Drain cabbage and season to taste (salt and pepper)
5. When potatoes are done, add the milk and butter and mash 'em up. (Some people say you should bring the milk to a boil first, then add it to the cooked potatoes.)
6. When potatoes are getting fluffy, stir in the cabbage. At this point, take another taste and season again if you need to.
7. Serve immediately!! Melts in your mouth and tastes brilliant.

I had my brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews over for St. Patrick's Day dinner yesterday. I allways have a family parto for St. Pats, but unfortunately the little ones would not like "Leprachan," so we watched "It's the Easter Beable Charlie Brown" in stead.
