Ghosts are real?

I kid you not. I was in Old Town a few months ago and decided to do the tour
of the Whaley House, a somewhat famous (real) haunted house, for the
umpteeth time. After checking out the upstairs I went back down and took
another look at the courtroom, in itself a pretty cool thing to see. As I was
going in the door someone pushed me on the shoulder. Thing was, there was
no one behind me. No faking this one!

My previous experience, about 20 years ago, was a very cold spot as I was
going up the stairs. I wasn't alone, the ladies in front of me reacted to it
too. I took notice that on a hot summer day the window at the top was
open but it was a warm breeze coming in. There is no air-conditioning in
a house that old.

I've been to this place numerous times, 20 years between experiences is
what it took to make me a true believer. Ghosts are real.

You are surely brave enough to do it alone.

Yes they are. I have seen one as a child. Still creeped out whenever I remember it.

I think some people are more sensitive to paranormal phenomena then others.

Oh, I absolutely believe that. I liken it to singing, which I have done all my life. Most people can carry a tune, and a fair number sing pretty well. At the extreme end of the scale you have the tone-deaf on one side, and the born opera singers on the other. I think psychic ability/sensitivity is like that.

I agree. The bad news, however, is that people with paranormal abilities are often perceived as "crazy" or "delusional." One of my favorite tv miniseries, "Rose Red," there is a character who possesses a great degree of psychic ability but is also profoundly autistic.

You know, in Greek mythology, Cassandra was given the gift of prophecy, but the curse that no one would believe her. I have always thought she was emblematic of gifted people, not just psychics, but gifted people in general. Yet her specific gift was prophecy, or clairvoyance.

That's how it usually is. People who are gifted, be it Mathematics, Music or Art, are seen as "dorks" or "nerds." Those who have the gift of clairvoyance are either pegged as "nuts" or as "con artists." Unfortunately, the bad news is that there are many charlatans out there who claim to be clairvoyant.
